Minister Tereza Cristina will fulfill her agenda this week in the United States, following the strategy of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa) to expand the presence of Brazilian agriculture in the world. The minister will have meetings at the World Bank, the Wilson Center's Brazil Institute and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), in addition to meeting with the United States Secretary of Agriculture, Sonny Perdue.

This Monday (18), the minister will participate in a conference at the World Bank, in which the results of the ABC Cerrado Project will be presented and options for expanding it will be discussed. Funded by the World Bank, the project is developed in seven states of the biome (Goiás, Mato Grosso do Sul, Tocantins, Maranhão, Bahia, Piauí, Minas Gerais) and the Federal District, bringing sustainable practices to rural properties.

Minister Tereza Cristina will talk about the importance of the Brazilian rural sector, the main projects to develop sustainable agriculture in the country and global trends that impact Brazilian production.

Investments

Closing her visit to Washington, the minister will meet, on Wednesday (20), with Secretary Sonny Perdue to discuss the Brazilian agricultural sector. Among the topics of the meeting is the suspension of imports of Brazilian beef in natura by the United States.

Minister Tereza Cristina said she will present Perdue with data on Brazilian beef production and advances in the sector in recent years. "This is a technical thing. The United States is asking for more information, and we will provide it," said the minister, last week while participating in an event in Londrina (PR), adding that her proposal is to build a "open and frank channel" to consolidate the partnership between the two countries in the agricultural sector.

In New York, Thursday (21), the minister will talk about investment opportunities in Brazilian sustainable agriculture.
