Minas Gerais agribusiness exports reached US$9,49 billion and 10 million tons were shipped between January and August this year. The numbers represent an increase of 12,5% in volume and a retraction of 7,6% in revenue compared to the same period in 2022. The scenario is influenced by the 17% decline in the average price of commodities in the international market, a factor that impacts foreign trade throughout Brazil.

"The decline in value can be explained, globally, by the decrease in the average price paid for commodities, as well as, on a specific basis, by the slowdown in purchases from our largest trading partners, China, Germany and Italy", he explains. the technical advisor of the State Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Seapa), Manoela Teixeira.

In the first eight months of 2023, agriculture was responsible for 36,1% of Minas Gerais' sales abroad. The main destinations for agricultural production in Minas Gerais were China (US$3,3 billion), the United States (US$750 million), Germany (US$554 million), Japan (US$382 million) and Italy (US$378 million ). In total, 171 countries received products from the state.

The most exported items from the catalog in Minas, in the interval, were coffee (36%), soy complex (31%), sugar and alcohol complex (11%), meat (9%) and forestry products (8%). The survey is from the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade (Mdic).
