The average price of fertilizers decreased during the month, leading to a reduction in the Fertilizer Purchasing Power Index (IPCF) for May, which closed at 1,75; representing a reduction compared to April (1,87). The results are favorable for the purchase of inputs by rural producers, although there are still supply uncertainties due to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, sanctions applied to Belarus and restrictions on the supply of Chinese fertilizer.
In addition to the reduction in the average price of fertilizers, another item considered is the exchange rate, which rose 4,12% according to the Central Bank. During the period, the Brazilian currency showed a devaluation. In this composition, the index showed improvement.
The geopolitical environment remains uncertain, causing concern throughout the chain, not only regarding fertilizer prices, but also the raw materials that make up them.
