Fendt showcases the Xaver GT, an autonomous agricultural robot.
Presented at Agritechnica 2025, the operator-free system performs repetitive tasks with high precision and low soil impact.
The Massey Ferguson 8S Dyna E-Power tractor became the first in history to complete the Morocco Desert Challenge. The agricultural model, specially modified for the race, finished the course in 75th place out of 144 competitors across all categories. In the truck class, it came in fourth place out of eight entries. The machine is on display at Agritechnica 2025.
The achievement proves the versatility of the MF 8S, designed for the field but capable of overcoming extreme conditions. The adaptation was led by Gilles Kuffer, director of Kufferagri Sàrl, who described the project as an engineering challenge and a true human adventure. Agricultural technicians participated in the transformation, demonstrating the potential of these professionals outside the fields.
Among the modifications, the tractor received a roll cage, racing seats with seatbelts, an additional fuel tank, tuned suspension, and camera-based mirrors. Michelin tires with a central inflation system allowed for quick pressure adjustments. The top speed reached 75 km/h.
The technical highlight was the exclusive Protect-U design, with a 24 cm gap between the hood and the cabin. This structure reduced heat transfer from the engine to the interior. The cabin, with 6,6 m² of glazed area and 3,4 m³ of volume, comfortably accommodated two pilots. The air conditioning system, with 14 vents, ensured cooling even in high temperatures.
The MF 8S used a 7,4-liter AGCO Power engine, reprogrammed to achieve 400 hp. The Dyna E-Power dual-clutch transmission combined mechanical efficiency with smooth operation. After more than 2.000 km of testing and 13 hours of continuous gear changes, the system proved its reliability in a competitive environment.
Launched in 2020, the MF 8S already had a history of performance in missions such as Antarctica 1 and 2, in addition to plowing records and humanitarian actions such as Tractor'Dak and Africa Track.
