Mahindra introduces new global tractor platform

The series will add to the current Brazilian portfolio, which comprises models from 25 to 110 hp, platforms and cabins.

This week, in Cape Town, South Africa, the multinational Mahindra held the global launch of a new line of tractors called “OJA”. The news was announced during the “Mahindra Future Scape” event, which brought together customers, partners and the press. The innovative line, with tractors from 20 to 70 horsepower, was designed to serve the markets on the six continents where Mahindra operates.

Mahindra OJA tractors combine four engines and four different transmissions to provide versatility and efficiency to handle the most diverse tasks in the field. They will be produced exclusively at the factory in Zaherabad, India, one of the largest and most advanced plants in South Asia. The manufacturing unit has the capacity to produce more than 330 variations of tractor configurations from 20 to 100 hp. Having adopted the philosophy of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) since its installation, around 65% of its production is destined for export around the world.

The launch of the OJA Series aims to meet the most diverse requirements of different markets, such as the United States, India, ASEAN and South America. In Brazil, the first units will begin testing in the coming months, with official launch in the country in the first half of 2024 The series will add to the current Brazilian portfolio, which comprises models from 25 to 110 hp, platform and cab versions, with the highest guarantee on the Brazilian market.

Global development

Derived from the Sanskrit OJAs, meaning “source of energy”, the OJA series models are linked to the most ambitious global development program in the company's history. The close relationship between the engineering teams at Mahindra Research Valey, India, which is Mahindra's R&D Center for automobiles and agricultural equipment, and Mahindra Mitsubish Agriculture Machinery in Japan, has resulted in the development of the new family of sub-compact 4x4 tractors , compact and utilitarian.

Available tractor OJA platforms:

- Sub-Compacts: 20 to 26 hp

- Compacts: 21 to 30 hp

- Small utility vehicles: 26 to 40 hp

- Medium-sized utility vehicles: 45 to 70 hp
