To date, the machines have already harvested more than 5%, approximately 60 thousand hectares of a production estimated by Emater/RS-Ascar at 3,59 million tons
The brand arrived in the country in 2012, but it was in October 2016 that Mahindra & Mahindra took over operations in Brazil. The turning point was 2020, even with all the difficulties caused by the pandemic, as well as agriculture, Mahindra continued to grow and had the best year in its history in Brazil. The Brazilian subsidiary is the one that has grown the most in recent years and has been exceeding expectations in 2021.
“Our goal is to translate Mahindra’s global strength to Brazilian producers who seek a relationship of trust and partnership with the brand. They are looking for a robust, economical, easy-to-operate tractor that doesn't stop”, comments Jak Torretta Jr. general director of Mahindra's operations in Brazil.
With a portfolio of tractors from 25 hp to 110 hp, Mahindra is gaining more and more space in Brazil. While Brazilian Industry grew 27,6% from January to September, Mahindra showed an increase of 97% in its business. Models in the power range between 70 hp and 80 hp recorded a 126% increase in sales compared to the same period of the previous year. Highlights include the 6065, with 65 hp and the 6075, with 80 hp, both nationalized, launched this year on the Brazilian market. Another model that gained visibility, reaching a growth of 147%, was the 9500S, with 95 hp of power, also nationalized, sold in platform and cabin versions. And the expansion of the portfolio continues, with new models, imported and nationalized, which will be launched soon.
“We are building a history with solid partnerships. High quality suppliers and a qualified dealer NETWORK, which is growing with the brand. Five years ago we had eleven points of sale and technical assistance in Brazil. Today there are more than 50 partner companies, committed to excellence in commercial and after-sales service. We have everything to best serve the Brazilian producer”, reports Jak.
Rio Grande do Sul is one of the states that has evolved the most. It grew 133% in the period from January to September 2021 compared to the same period in 2020. In São Paulo, Mahindra also soared in sales, with an increase of 161% in the state. In Minas Gerais, another state undergoing rapid development, two new concessionaires were appointed – YAY in Juiz de Fora and Três Vales, in Capelinha.
Leaving the South and Southeast regions, Bahia, the largest market in the Northeast, gains attention with Casa dos Implementos, a new Mahindra Dealership that began operations last September.
“This development clearly shows the strength of our brand and the perfect adaptation of Mahindra tractors to the Brazilian market. The average annual working hours of tractors in India are higher than the national average. Therefore, they are extremely reliable products, which is why we offer the biggest guarantee on the Brazilian market.”, concludes Torretta.
In addition to the manufacturing headquarters located in the municipality of Dois Irmãos, Mahindra has the structure of the company Athrol, in Canoas, also in Rio Grande do Sul. In partnership, they complete the assembly of the tractors, allowing the increase in production capacity by more than 100%.
