Macfrut 2026 will be bigger, more international, and more innovative. The 43rd edition of the fruit and vegetable fair will take place from April 21st to 23rd at the Rimini Expo Centre, with two additional pavilions and a new exhibition design. The event will be organized into three macro-areas: pre-harvest, post-harvest, and healthy food.
Avocados and mangos will be the star products at this year's fair. Avocado consumption in Italy has increased 694% per capita over the last decade. In terms of value, the market grew 317% between 2019 and 2024. Mangos also saw growth: 24% in 2023 and 12,6% in 2024. Both products will have exclusive events at the fair: Avocado Day and Mango Day, featuring business rounds, tastings, and personalized meetings.
The 2026 edition will have an international focus on Caribbean countries, with a focus on the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Venezuela, Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala, and Mexico. The region exports more than $30 billion worth of tropical fruits and vegetables and generates a surplus of $12,8 billion in this segment.
Sicily will be the fair's partner region. Known for its diverse microclimates and product quality, the region boasts several DOP and IGP certifications. Sicilian products will be presented to the international public in an extensive program of initiatives throughout the three-day event.
Macfrut's new layout will feature distinct colors for each macro-area. The Pre-Harvest area will include displays on biosolutions, irrigation, nurseries, agrovoltaics, biotechnology, artificial intelligence, and robotics. The Post-Harvest area will bring together processing, packaging, logistics, and marketing technologies. Highlights include the Red Planet area, dedicated to tomatoes, and the Berry Area, focused on red fruits.
