The Mato Grosso Institute of Agricultural Economics (Imea) projects a record soybean production in Mato Grosso for the 2025/26 harvest. The estimate reaches 51,41 million tons. This volume exceeds the previous projection by 1,77% and is 1,02% above the previous cycle.
The cultivated area remained at 13,01 million hectares. Average productivity rose to 65,87 sc/ha. The 1,77% increase compared to the previous report reflects the volume of rainfall during crop development. Some areas experienced excessive rainfall, which increased moisture and the incidence of damaged grains.
Harvesting has reached 78,34% of the planned area. The pace continues to be impacted by the rains of the last week. In the market, the Imea indicator closed at R$ 101,00/sc, a weekly drop of 0,70%. The dollar fell 1,30%, to R$ 5,15/US$.
For corn, planting for the 2025/26 crop reached 81,93% of the estimated area between February 23 and 27, an advance of 15,60 percentage points in the week. The pace remains 3,02 points below the previous cycle. Excessive rainfall delayed operations in the Southeast and Northeast of the state.
On the B3 exchange, corn closed at R$ 71,24/sc on average for the week, a decrease of 0,28%. The lower dollar limited competitiveness at the ports. In Chicago, the current contract rose 1,15%.
In cotton, the area in Mato Grosso for 2025/26 is projected at 1,42 million hectares, a decrease of 8,06% compared to 2024/25. The estimated productivity reaches 290,88 arrobas/ha, a drop of 7,69%. Cottonseed production remains at 6,21 million tons, 15,13% below the previous cycle. Cotton lint production totals 2,56 million tons.
In the global scenario, the USDA estimated world cotton production at 25,26 million tons for 2026/27, a decrease of 3,22%. Consumption is expected to reach 26,15 million tons, an increase of 1,17%. Ending stocks will fall 5,21%, to 15,50 million tons.
