Nine wheat flour industries in Paraná underwent tax audits by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) last week. The action aimed to ensure the quality of food products produced in the country and protect consumer health, since wheat flour is an ingredient widely used for the production of bread, pasta and cakes.

Wheat flour samples were collected to verify compliance with the identity and quality standard and for the analysis of pesticide and mycotoxin residues. The wheat flour production of the audited companies corresponds to more than 3 thousand tons per day.

The inspection of industries producing products of plant origin is one of the main tasks of the Department of Inspection of Products of Plant Origin of Mapa. “Throughout the year we will carry out more audits in the wheat flour production chain and in other industries producing products of plant origin to guarantee the quality and safety of the products that reach Brazilians’ tables”, reports the head of the Audit and Certification Service , Cid Rozo.

Tax audits take place across the country and, this year, they have also been carried out in the states of Rio Grande do Sul and Rio de Janeiro. During the action, companies' compliance with the standards and regulations required by legislation are verified and the hygiene and food safety conditions in the factories are assessed.

Teams of federal agricultural tax auditors from the Inspection Service of Products of Vegetable Origin from the states of Paraná, Goiás, Mato Grosso, Ceará and the Federal District participated in the audit in Paraná.
