John Deere expands its Canoas factory to produce electronics

John Deere has announced the expansion of its industrial operation in Canoas, Rio Grande do Sul. The project includes an area dedicated to the assembly of electronic components for agricultural and construction machinery. The new operation is expected to begin in July 2027.

The investment totals R$ 75 million. Production will only serve the Brazilian market. The unit already manufactures the 1025E sprayers.

The new line will handle the final assembly of intelligent control modules, high-precision GPS signal receivers, monitors, and navigation guides. Among the equipment planned is the StarFire receiver.

The modules control the electronic functions of the machines. The other systems support positioning, orientation, and the integration of digital resources into the equipment.

According to Joaquin Fernandez (pictured), John Deere's Vice President of Manufacturing for South America, the expansion strengthens the company's industrial and technological presence in Brazil. The executive also states that the change will increase the capacity to integrate electronic systems into the equipment and bring development closer to the demands of Brazilian customers.

The expansion is part of John Deere's global manufacturing strategy. The company aims to optimize its supply chain and improve logistical efficiency. The project will also leverage the factory's technical capabilities and the availability of technology professionals in the region.
