Brazil and Japan sign a cooperation agreement, this Monday (29), for agriculture and food that will allow Japanese investments in the Matopiba region. This new agricultural frontier is formed by parts of Maranhão, Tocantins, Piauí and Bahia and stands out for the production of soybeans, corn and cotton. Minister Kátia Abreu (Agriculture, Livestock and Supply) will hold a press conference at 12:35 pm.
The agreement will be signed during the “Brazil-Japan Business Dialogue: Economic and Commercial Exchange in Agriculture and Food”, in Palmas, on Monday (29), which will feature Minister Kátia Abreu (Agriculture, Livestock and Supply) and the Vice Minister of International Affairs at the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Hiromichi Matsushima.
Parallel to the business dialogue, there will be a bilateral meeting on sanitary and phytosanitary issues. Another novelty is the announcement of the creation of the Municipalist Front of Mayors of the Matopiba Region.
