Investment in family farming reaches R$5,8 million in Goiás

A total of 48 family farmer projects received support from the National Supply Company (Conab). Through the Food Acquisition Program (PAA), the state-owned company invested a budget of R$5,8 million, a resource applied to the acquisition of 1,15 tons of food produced by 763 local producers.

Of the total number of farmers benefiting from the program in Goiás, 600 are rural women. As a result, female participation in the PAA in Goiás exceeds 75%. Among the products acquired by the Company, chicken meat, sausages, homemade bread and fruit and vegetables stand out. The food was donated to around 312 thousand people in situations of food and nutritional insecurity, distributed in 35 municipalities in Goiás

Other actions 

Also throughout 2020, Conab sold a total of 2,59 thousand tons of corn in the state through the Counter Sales Program (ProVB). With the sale, 345 farmers from 83 municipalities were able to purchase the cereal for animal feed at prices compatible with those practiced in public auctions or those in local wholesale markets.

Furthermore, the Company supported the donation of 28 tons of products distributed in 1.764 baskets with basic foods such as rice, beans, flour, pasta, sugar, oil and milk. The food was purchased through an agreement with the Ministry of Women, Family and Human Rights (MMFDH) and reached 12 municipalities. Still in the field of donations, through an agreement with the government of Goiás, Conab participated in the reception, storage and dispatch of over 343 thousand food baskets donated to families in the state.
