Brazilian coffee exports generated US$3,29 billion in foreign exchange revenue in the period from July 2018 to January 2019. The physical volume exported was equivalent to 24,19 million 60kg bags. Of this total, 21,93 million bags, equivalent to 90,6%, were green coffee, of which 19,82 million (81,9% of the total) were Arabica coffee and 2,11 million Robusta coffee (8,7 .2,25%). And of the total exported, 2,24 million bags of industrialized coffee were sold, of which 9,3 million bags of soluble coffee (12,36% of the total) and 0,1 thousand bags of roasted and ground coffee (XNUMX%) .

The performance of exports of Coffees from Brazil, in the period covered by this analysis, compared to the same previous period (July 2017 to January 2018), shows that the volume of Robusta coffee exported increased by 1.016%, which passed from 189 thousand to 2,11 million bags. Maintaining this same comparison in relation to Arabica coffee, it can be seen that there was also an increase of 21,2% in exports, which went from 16,35 million to 19,82 million bags, as mentioned previously.

Specifically in relation to the performance of the volume of exports of industrialized coffees - soluble and roasted and ground -, it appears that there was a 14,2% decrease in exports of roasted and ground coffee, when comparing the periods analyzed. On the other hand, this decrease was offset by a 12,9% increase in the exported volume of soluble coffee, which allowed for a 12,7% increase in the volume of industrialized coffee sold abroad.

Based on this analysis of the performance of Brazilian Coffee exports, using as a reference data contained in the Monthly report January 2019, from the Brazilian Coffee Exporters Council – Cecafé, it is worth highlighting that Brazilian Coffee exports broke a record in January 2019, if this month is compared with the first month of previous years, reaching 3,28 million sacks. Editions of the Report are available in full on Coffee Observatory of the Café Research Consortium, coordinated by Embrapa Coffee, since March 2015.

Cecafé also includes in its Report a specific item that demonstrates the price gains of Brazilian exports of differentiated Arabica coffees, in the month of January of this year. In this case, with an export volume of 630,07 thousand bags, the foreign exchange revenue obtained was US$ 107,33 million, with an average price of US$ 170,35, which represents an increase of 36,9% in relation to the commodity arabica coffee, sold that same month for US$124,47 per bag. For Cecafé, differentiated coffees are those that have superior quality or some type of certificate of sustainable practices, which includes specialty, organic and certified coffees of origin, among others.

According to Monthly report January 2019, object of this analysis, Brazil started the year well in terms of coffee exports, as the country, as mentioned, exported 3,28 million bags of coffee in January, considering the sum of green, soluble and roasted and ground coffee. Thus, according to Council data, the volume exported in the month was 20,8% higher than January 2018, whose volume was 2,72 million bags. Furthermore, foreign exchange revenue also increased by 0,2%, compared to the same month last year, reaching US$439 million. These positive results result from the good quality of Brazilian Coffees and also from the record harvest harvested in 2018, which was 61,66 million bags.
