With the high temperatures and the beginning of the month, the table orange market registered an increase in demand this week. According to Cepea researchers, this scenario and the lower supply of quality fruits supported the prices of the pear variety. In the partial part of the week (from Monday to Thursday), the fruit has an average of R$ 49,19/box of 40,8 kg, on the tree, an increase of 1,9% compared to last week.

In the field, researchers from Cepea indicate that, even if in low volume and irregularly, the rains recorded in practically the entire state of São Paulo in the last week brought some relief to citrus growers. At the current stage of plant development, precipitation can contribute to floral induction, after a long period of water stress in rainfed orchards.

In those that are irrigated (and, therefore, have previously recorded flowering), rain tends to favor the setting of flowers that will give rise to the oranges for the 2022/23 harvest.

Cepea researchers also indicate that, in the case of fruits that are close to the harvest period, rainfall can benefit filling and quality.
