A very common scene when we are passing through the country's highways is seeing thousands of yellow grains scattered along the banks and shoulders. This is one of the villains of the Brazilian soybean farmer's profit, the time to transport. When incorrect or poorly done, it can cause major losses to the producer's pocket.

It is important to know that it is not enough to just load the truck and make the delivery. First of all, planning is necessary, both from those who produce and those who ship, anticipating and avoiding setbacks and accidents. After all, the oilseed requires specific conditions to reach its destination intact.

The specialist, Alexandre Simamura, who is Operations and Customer Manager, says that transporting soybeans is a complex process that involves qualifying the grains in terms of moisture, % of damaged grains and impurities in the load.

Furthermore, the qualification of the transporter, ensuring acceptable truck conditions and the correct packaging of the cargo so that transport losses are minimized, are a fundamental part of planning bulk transport operations, warns Simamura.

Valuable Tips

It is important to follow some steps so that the transport is carried out correctly and without any headaches. See the tips highlighted by the expert:

1 – Truck suitable for transporting cargo: First of all, to carry out transport it is important to choose the right vehicles. “This measure reduces the risk of losses and waste caused by the wrong accommodation of the load and the incorrect use of tarpaulin and other accessories due to lack of knowledge”, reports the specialist. Furthermore, by relying on an experienced carrier it will also be possible to better cope with the poor conditions of Brazilian highways.

2 – Correct storage: For the grain to reach its final destination in good condition, the vehicle must be properly sealed to avoid contact with light and humidity during the journey. The body must be checked before operation. This reduces the risk of the proliferation of microorganisms, which shortens the shelf life and reduces the quality of the product. “This way, it is possible to check if there are traces of other cargo and if the vehicle is in a condition to transport the product without contaminating it”, highlights the manager.

3– Prepare and train drivers: Before hiring a transport company or independent driver, it is essential to find professionals who are capable of carrying out the service. “Therefore, having a freight platform like the one we offer is also the best way to find a truck driver without a history of drinking or stress, among others. This makes all the difference in avoiding accidents that could put the driver and the load at risk”, says the goFlux professional.

4– Transport safely: Brazilian roads, in addition to having poor infrastructure, pose a risk of robbery and theft. Therefore, Morgado says that determining routes that avoid dangerous paths for vehicles is essential. “This way, when finding the ideal carrier on a freight platform, your shipper will have trucks with up-to-date checks, which will avoid mechanical failures during the transportation of the oilseed”, he adds.

Technology at the service of efficiency

The cost of transportation negatively influences freight and can make transporting soybeans even more expensive. However, it is possible to have technology at the service of efficiency, such as the goFlux logistics platform. The startup's cargo marketplace connects shippers and carriers online, digitizing the freight contracting process.
