The Rio Grande do Sul Rice Institute (Irga-RS) will hold another edition of its Field Day, scheduled to take place on January 29, 2026, at the Rice Experimental Station in Cachoeirinha. With the theme "The quality of rice from Rio Grande do Sul, from field to table: innovation, sustainability and excellence in rice production," the event integrates research, extension, and the entire rice production chain, promoting dialogue and the presentation of initiatives and projects aimed at the development and strengthening of the sector.

Activities begin at 7:30 AM with visits to technical stations, which will address essential topics for the production chain, including the quality of production systems, seed and grain quality, as well as technical, economic, and environmental quality. Starting at 9:30 AM, the public can also explore the Technological Corridor, which will showcase practices aimed at improving the quality of production systems in lowland areas.

The event will also feature the traditional Carreteiro do Irga, served from 13 pm onwards, providing an opportunity for integration and camaraderie among the participants.

“Our teams are organizing everything with great care to welcome everyone to the Experimental Station and show firsthand the work of Irga in defending the quality of rice from Rio Grande do Sul. Our cultivars represent 50% of the national rice production and 65% of the grains produced in the State, consolidating Irga genetics as a benchmark. The Field Day is an excellent opportunity to learn about the research and extension work carried out by the agency,” stated President Eduardo Bonotto.

The program is free and open to the public, reinforcing Irga's commitment to promoting the quality and sustainable development of rice farming in Rio Grande do Sul.
