Inmet: weather forecast until Monday (31)

The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) predicts that the last days of August will be marked by conditions conducive to storms and hail in the southern region of Brazil. In other regions, the highlight will be a sharp rise in temperatures, accompanied by dry weather in areas of the Central-West and Matopiba regions.

In southern Amazonia and the Midwest, maximum temperatures can reach 41°C in Cuiabá (MT) and Porto Velho (RO). In São Paulo (SP), thermometers reach 36°C; in Curitiba (PR), 35°C; and in Brasília (DF), 33°C. In addition to the heat, the weather remains dry in the central region of the country, especially in agricultural areas of Matopiba, where maximum temperatures also approach 40°C.

Northern Region

On Saturday (August 29th), there will be showers accompanied by thunderstorms in northern Amazonas and Roraima. There is a possibility of isolated rain in western and central Amazonas, along the coastal strip of Pará, and on the eastern and southern coast of Amapá. Tocantins, southern Pará, and Rondônia will have few clouds. In other areas, the forecast is for mostly cloudy skies, but no rain.

On Sunday (August 30th), the central-west and north of Amazonas will have many clouds and isolated showers. There is also a possibility of rain in the south and east of Amazonas and in Roraima. In Amapá, Acre, Rondônia and the coastal strip of Pará, the sky will be mostly cloudy, but without rain forecast. In Tocantins and in much of the south-central part of Pará, the sky will have few clouds.

For Saturday (8/29) and Sunday (8/30), there is a yellow warning of potential danger due to low air humidity during the afternoon in southern Rondônia, southern Pará, and Tocantins.

On Monday (August 31st), instability increases in western and northern Amazonas, with isolated showers and thunderstorms. Isolated showers are also forecast for Acre, other areas of Amazonas, and central-western and northern Rondônia and Roraima. In Tocantins and south-central Pará, the weather remains stable, with sunshine and few clouds.

Temperatures rise sharply during this period. Among the capital cities, the minimum temperature will be 22°C in Rio Branco (AC). In the afternoon, the maximum temperatures reach 37°C in Manaus (AM), 39°C in Palmas (TO), and 41°C in Porto Velho (RO).

North East Region

On Saturday (August 29th), the sky will be mostly cloudy in the northern and eastern parts of the Northeast, with the possibility of isolated rain along the entire coastal strip. In south-central Maranhão, Piauí, southern Ceará, western Pernambuco, and west-central Bahia, the forecast is for few clouds.

On Sunday (8/30) and Monday (8/31), isolated rain showers will hit the east coast of the Northeast, between the north coast of Bahia and the states of Sergipe, Alagoas, Pernambuco, Paraíba and Rio Grande do Norte. Isolated showers may also occur in the interior of these states.

North-central Ceará, northern Piauí and Maranhão, and the southern coast of Bahia will have many clouds, but no rain is expected. On Sunday, fog may occur at dawn in southern Bahia. In contrast, the week begins with few clouds in most of Bahia, western Pernambuco and Paraíba, southern Ceará, and south-central Piauí and Maranhão.

For Saturday (8/29) and Sunday (8/30), there is a yellow warning of potential danger for low air humidity during the afternoon in the south and east of Maranhão; in almost all of Piauí, except on the coast; in the south-central and west of Ceará; southwest of Rio Grande do Norte; west of Paraíba; west-central Pernambuco; and north, central and west of Bahia.

Temperatures are rising in the interior of the Northeast. Among the capitals, Salvador (BA) and Maceió (AL) recorded the lowest minimum temperatures, at 21°C. The maximum temperature reached 39°C in Teresina (PI) on Sunday.

Midwest region

The weather remains stable across much of the Central-West region. However, areas of instability will bring isolated showers and thunderstorms to southern Mato Grosso do Sul on Saturday (August 29).

On Sunday (August 30th), southern Mato Grosso, southern Goiás, and Mato Grosso do Sul will have many clouds. In western and southern Mato Grosso do Sul, isolated showers will continue.

On Monday (August 31st), rain showers will spread across Mato Grosso do Sul. Only the northeast of the state will remain dry, although with many clouds. There will also be many clouds in the northwest, west and south of Mato Grosso and in the south of Goiás. In other areas, including the Federal District, the weather will remain sunny with few clouds.

Between Saturday (August 29th) and Monday (August 31st), there is a yellow warning of potential danger for storms in southern Mato Grosso do Sul. For Saturday and Sunday, the entire region is also under a yellow warning of potential danger for low air humidity during the afternoon.

In addition to the dry weather, temperatures are showing a strong upward trend. Among the capital cities, the minimum temperature will be 17°C in Brasília (DF). In the federal capital, the maximum temperature could reach 33°C on Saturday. In Cuiabá (MT), thermometers will reach 40°C on Saturday and 41°C on Monday. Campo Grande (MS) will have a maximum of 37°C during this period, while Goiânia (GO) will reach 36°C.

Southeast

On Saturday (August 29th), São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and the central-eastern part of Minas Gerais will have many clouds. There is a possibility of isolated rain on the southern coast of São Paulo and the northern coast of Espírito Santo. In other areas, Saturday will be sunny with few clouds.

Sunday (August 30th) begins with fog in eastern São Paulo, northeastern Minas Gerais, and northwestern Espírito Santo. Throughout the day, there will be many clouds in São Paulo, the Triângulo Mineiro region, and southern Minas Gerais. Isolated showers are possible on the border between São Paulo and Paraná.

On Monday (August 31st), many clouds will prevail in southern and western Minas Gerais and in São Paulo. There is a possibility of isolated showers in western, central and southern São Paulo. In other areas, the sky will be mostly clear.

Among the capital cities, the minimum temperature will be 15°C in Belo Horizonte (MG) and Rio de Janeiro (RJ). The heat will be more intense in São Paulo, where the maximum temperature will reach 35°C on Saturday and Sunday and rise to 36°C on Monday.

In Rio de Janeiro, the high reaches 35°C on Saturday. In Belo Horizonte, it reaches 33°C on Sunday. In Vitória (ES), the high stays at 30°C throughout the period.

South

The Southern region will remain under strong instability in the coming days. On Saturday (August 29th), there is a possibility of hail between southern Paraná, the entire state of Santa Catarina, and northern Rio Grande do Sul. In western and south-central Paraná, in Santa Catarina, and in north-central Rio Grande do Sul, there will be showers accompanied by thunderstorms.

In northern Paraná and south-central Rio Grande do Sul, on the other hand, the sky will be mostly cloudy, but no rain is expected.

On Sunday (August 30th), there is a possibility of hail in western and southern Paraná, central-western Santa Catarina, and northern and northwestern Rio Grande do Sul. In these areas and in the east of the three states in the region, there will be showers with isolated thunderstorms.

In northern Paraná and southern Rio Grande do Sul, cloudy skies prevail, with a chance of isolated showers. No rain is expected along the border between Rio Grande do Sul and Uruguay.

On Monday (August 31st), instability will persist over the Southern region. Between south-central and western Paraná and southern Rio Grande do Sul, there will be rain accompanied by thunderstorms. The sky will be overcast, with the possibility of storms in southern Paraná, throughout the state of Santa Catarina, and in north-central Rio Grande do Sul, including Porto Alegre (RS).

Given the scenario of strong instability, hail and storms, there is an orange warning of danger for storms on Saturday (8/29) in much of Santa Catarina, in the extreme south of Paraná and in the north of Rio Grande do Sul.

On Sunday (August 30th) and Monday (August 31st), the orange warning covers the entire state of Santa Catarina, the north of Rio Grande do Sul, and the western, central, and eastern regions of Paraná. Florianópolis (SC) and Curitiba (PR) are within the warning area.

There is also a yellow warning of potential danger for storms in Paraná, north-central Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina between Saturday (8/29) and Monday (8/31).

Temperatures show a stark contrast between the states in the region. In Curitiba (PR), the high could reach 35°C on Monday. In Florianópolis (SC), the high will not exceed 20°C during that period. In Porto Alegre (RS), cold weather prevails: the low will be 13°C on Sunday, while the highs will be 18°C ​​on Saturday and Sunday and reach 19°C on Monday.
