Inmet: weather forecast for Wednesday (8) and Thursday (9)

The forecast from the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) for this Wednesday (July 8th) and Thursday (July 9th) indicates that the presence of a high-pressure system will maintain stable weather in much of the Central-South region of Brazil, with predominantly clear skies and no rain in most of the South, Southeast, and Central-West regions. With these conditions, the area of ​​low relative humidity is expected to expand on Thursday to the states of Central-South Brazil, particularly the states of São Paulo and the entire Central-West region. 

Rain over these two days will be concentrated in the far north of the North Region and along the coastal strip of the Northeast, with the highest accumulations expected between the coast of Paraíba, Rio Grande do Norte, and Ceará on Wednesday. Fog is also forecast for areas of the South and Southeast during the early morning hours.

The main highlights of the period are the low humidity warnings in the interior of the North, Northeast, Midwest, Southeast regions and in northern Paraná, in addition to frost warnings in the South, in southern Mato Grosso do Sul and in the mountainous region of southern Minas Gerais. Temperatures remain low during the early mornings in the South-Central region, with minimums close to 0°C in the mountainous areas of the South and 3°C in southern Mato Grosso do Sul, while the highest maximum temperatures in the country remain between south-central Pará and Tocantins, potentially reaching between 36°C and 38°C.

Northern Region

Between Wednesday and Thursday, the weather will remain hot and humid in the far north of the region, favoring the occurrence of showers in these locations, especially in the areas encompassing northern Amazonas, Roraima, northwestern Pará, and Amapá. The lowest temperatures in the Northern Region, with minimums around 16°C, are expected in southern Rondônia and Tocantins. Conversely, south-central Pará and much of Tocantins should experience the highest maximum temperatures in the region, ranging between 36°C and 38°C, as well as the lowest relative humidity levels, below 30%. In these same areas, a yellow warning for low relative humidity, with levels between 20% and 30%, is in effect for both days.

North East Region

Between Wednesday and Thursday, the chance of rain is limited to coastal areas of the Northeast Region. The area encompassing the coast of Paraíba, Rio Grande do Norte, and Ceará is particularly affected, with the highest rainfall accumulations expected on Wednesday, and a yellow warning for heavy rain in effect. In other coastal areas of the Northeast, rainfall is expected to be localized. Meanwhile, in the interior of the Northeast, the weather will remain hot and dry, with minimum relative humidity expected to remain between 20% and 30%, especially in the Sertão region. The states most affected by the low humidity are Maranhão, Piauí, southern Ceará, western Pernambuco, Paraíba, Rio Grande do Norte, and Bahia. Minimum temperatures are expected to range between 10°C and 12°C, while maximum temperatures are expected to be between 35°C and 37°C.

Midwest region

Between Wednesday and Thursday, the weather will remain stable with no rain forecast. Maximum temperatures will continue to be high in areas of north-central Mato Grosso and northwestern Goiás, with values ​​between 34°C and 36°C. The period will be marked by predominantly sunny skies and few clouds. The main highlight will be the low relative humidity, which should cover almost the entire region, especially on Thursday, when levels may vary between 20% and 30% in the afternoon. Another highlight will be the sharp decline in minimum temperatures in south-central Mato Grosso do Sul, due to the passage of a cold front on Wednesday; thermometers may register 3°C, with frost formation. A yellow weather warning is in effect for this condition. From Thursday onwards, temperatures in Mato Grosso do Sul will begin to rise gradually. However, they will still remain low, with minimums ranging between 5°C and 7°C.

Southeast

Between Wednesday and Thursday, the Southeast Region remains under the influence of a high-pressure system, which favors atmospheric stability, inhibits the formation of convective clouds, and maintains predominantly dry weather in most of the region. However, on Wednesday, isolated rain is still forecast in the eastern part of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Espírito Santo, while on Thursday this condition ceases to exist, and no rain is expected throughout the region. During the mornings of Wednesday and Thursday, fog formation is expected over southern São Paulo, and on Thursday, it will also cover the eastern part of São Paulo, southern Minas Gerais, and south-central Rio de Janeiro. With more stable weather in large areas of the Southeast, low humidity warnings remain in effect between 12 pm and 18 pm, concentrated on Wednesday over the north-central portion of Minas Gerais. On Thursday, the low humidity extends to the far west of Minas Gerais, southern Minas Gerais, and practically the entire state of São Paulo, with the exception of the eastern part. There is also a frost warning for the mountainous region of the far south of Minas Gerais on Thursday.

Temperatures will remain low during the early mornings, particularly in southern São Paulo and southern Minas Gerais, where minimum temperatures will range between 8°C and 10°C on Wednesday and remain close to 10°C on Thursday. The highest minimum temperatures are expected in Espírito Santo, between 18°C ​​and 20°C. During the afternoons, maximum temperatures should vary little throughout the period, reaching up to 30°C in northwestern Minas Gerais and between 26°C and 28°C in western Minas Gerais and São Paulo on Thursday. Among the capital cities, São Paulo is expected to register the lowest maximum temperatures, close to 24°C, while Belo Horizonte will reach around 27°C.

South

Between Wednesday and Thursday, the Southern Region will remain under the influence of a high-pressure system following the passage of a cold front, favoring stable weather, clear skies, and an absence of rain in practically the entire region. On Wednesday, fog is expected during the morning between eastern Paraná and northeastern Santa Catarina. Frost warnings remain in effect on Wednesday for areas in the western states of the Southern Region. Conversely, on Thursday, the main weather warning is for low humidity, between 12 pm and 18 pm, for the north-central portion of Paraná. As for temperatures, on Wednesday practically the entire Southern Region should register minimum temperatures below 10°C, especially in the mountainous regions of Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina, where values ​​may approach 0°C. On Thursday, maximum temperatures will show a slight increase, but will remain mild in most of the region. The far northwest of Paraná will experience the highest temperatures, with highs around 26°C, while in other areas temperatures are not expected to exceed 22°C. The lowest maximum temperature is forecast for the Serra Catarinense region, at around 16°C.
