The forecast from the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) for Wednesday (8/5) and Thursday (8/6) is marked by the intensification of instabilities over the Southern Region, associated with the formation of an extratropical cyclone over the South Atlantic, with the possibility of rapid intensification near the coast of South America. This system favors the occurrence of rain, thunderstorms, hail, and wind gusts in the three states of the region, in addition to contributing to the advance of instabilities towards southern Mato Grosso do Sul, southern São Paulo, and areas near state borders.
In other regions of the country, rain showers remain concentrated over Western Amazonia, while in the Northeast, rainfall continues to be mainly restricted to the coastal strip. Meanwhile, dry weather predominates over much of the Brazilian interior, keeping relative humidity levels low in areas of the Central-West, Southeast, and Matopiba regions.
Inmet also reported that it continues to monitor the evolution of the extratropical cyclone and its possible impacts on southern Brazil.
On Wednesday morning, there is a possibility of isolated rain in northern and western Amazonas, Roraima, northern Pará, and Amapá. During the afternoon, showers intensify over Amazonas and Roraima, with a possibility of isolated rain also in western Acre, southwestern Amazonas, northern Pará, and Amapá. At night, the rain remains concentrated in the far west of Acre, north-central and western Amazonas, Roraima, northern Pará, and Amapá. In other areas of the region, the weather remains stable, with varying cloud cover.
On Thursday, instability persists between Amazonas and Roraima, with rain and thunderstorms expected. There are also isolated showers on the coast of Pará and a possibility of isolated rain in western Acre, northern Rondônia, and northern Pará. In other areas of the northern region, the weather remains stable.
Regarding temperatures, among the capital cities, the lowest predicted temperature is 21°C in Palmas (TO), while the highest temperature could reach 36°C, also in Palmas (TO).
On Wednesday, isolated showers are expected along the coast of Alagoas, Pernambuco, Paraíba, and southern Rio Grande do Norte during the morning. There is also a possibility of isolated rain in the interior of Rio Grande do Norte, Paraíba, Pernambuco, and Alagoas, as well as along the coast of Sergipe, Bahia, and Maranhão. Between the afternoon and evening, the possibility of rain remains along the coastal strip and may extend to areas of the interior and north-central Ceará. In the interior of the region, the weather remains dry.
On Thursday, the possibility of rain remains limited to the coastal strip, with isolated showers on the coast of Maranhão and light rain in parts of the coast of other states. In southern Bahia, fog is expected in mountainous areas during the dawn. The interior continues to experience predominantly dry weather.
On Wednesday, the orange warning for dangerous low relative humidity remains in effect for western Bahia, southern Maranhão, southern Piauí, Tocantins, eastern Mato Grosso, and northern Goiás. There is also a yellow warning for potentially dangerous low humidity in parts of Maranhão, Piauí, Ceará, Pernambuco, Bahia, Minas Gerais, São Paulo, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Goiás, and the Federal District.
On Wednesday, a yellow warning for potentially dangerous heavy rains remains in effect along the southern coast of Rio Grande do Norte, Paraíba, Pernambuco, and Alagoas. Between Wednesday and Thursday, a yellow warning for strong winds continues along the coast of Maranhão and Rio Grande do Norte, as well as in areas of Paraíba, Pernambuco, Alagoas, Sergipe, and northern Bahia.
Regarding temperatures, among the capital cities, the lowest predicted temperature is 20°C in Salvador (BA), Maceió (AL), and Teresina (PI), while the highest temperature could reach 36°C in Teresina (PI).
On Wednesday, rain and thunderstorms are forecast for southern Mato Grosso do Sul from the morning onwards, with the possibility of isolated showers in the south-central part of the state. During the afternoon and evening, the instability intensifies, and there is a possibility of hail in south-central Mato Grosso do Sul (MS). In the evening, the unstable weather will reach Goiás and the Federal District, where isolated showers are possible. In other areas of the Central-West Region, the weather will remain stable, with varying cloud cover.
On Thursday, rain with thunderstorms persists in south-central Mato Grosso do Sul, while showers are possible in other areas of the state. In Mato Grosso and Goiás, cloudy skies prevail, but no significant rainfall is expected.
On Wednesday, the orange warning for low relative humidity remains in effect for eastern Mato Grosso, northern Goiás, and Tocantins. There is also a yellow warning for low humidity in Mato Grosso, eastern Mato Grosso do Sul, Goiás, and the Federal District.
Between Wednesday and Thursday, the yellow warning for potential storm danger remains in effect for south-central and western Mato Grosso do Sul. On Thursday, the warning will be upgraded to orange for storm danger in the southern part of the state.
Regarding temperatures, among the capital cities, the lowest predicted temperature is 15°C in Brasília (DF), while the highest could reach 35°C in Cuiabá (MT).
On Wednesday, fog will form at dawn along the coast of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. There is also a possibility of isolated rain in southern and western São Paulo and Espírito Santo. During the afternoon and evening, instability will move over southern São Paulo, with the possibility of isolated thunderstorms, while the possibility of rain remains in central-western São Paulo and northern Espírito Santo.
On Thursday, rain and thunderstorms are forecast on the border between São Paulo and Paraná. In other areas of São Paulo and southern Minas Gerais, there is still a possibility of isolated showers. In the rest of the region, the weather remains stable.
On Wednesday, the yellow warning for potentially dangerous low relative humidity remains in effect for areas of Minas Gerais and São Paulo.
Regarding temperatures, among the capital cities, the lowest predicted temperature is 14°C in Belo Horizonte (MG), while the highest could reach 35°C in Rio de Janeiro (RJ).
On Wednesday, instability will intensify across the entire Southern Region due to the approach of an extratropical cyclone. In the morning, rain and thunderstorms are forecast for western and southern Paraná, western Santa Catarina, and northwestern Rio Grande do Sul, with isolated showers in other areas. Fog may also form at dawn along the coastal strip of the region and on the border with Uruguay.
During the afternoon, instability increases significantly, favoring rain, thunderstorms, and the possibility of hail in western and south-central Paraná, west-central Santa Catarina, and northwestern Rio Grande do Sul. In other areas of the region, rain and thunderstorms are expected. At night, the risk of hail increases in areas of the three states, while rain remains widespread. In the extreme south of Rio Grande do Sul, near the border with Uruguay, precipitation occurs in the form of isolated showers.
On Thursday, rain and thunderstorms will continue to affect the Southern Region. There is a possibility of further hail, mainly in the south-central part of Rio Grande do Sul, while instabilities remain associated with the intensifying extratropical cyclone over the South Atlantic.
On Thursday, an orange warning for dangerous storms will come into effect, covering southern Mato Grosso do Sul, western, southwestern, southern and northwestern Paraná, central-western and southern Santa Catarina, as well as a large part of Rio Grande do Sul. Between Wednesday and Thursday, a yellow warning for potentially dangerous storms will also remain in effect in areas of the three states in the Southern Region and on the border between Paraná and São Paulo.
Regarding temperatures, among the capital cities, the lowest predicted temperature is 11°C in Porto Alegre (RS). Maximum temperatures reach 28°C in Curitiba (PR) and Florianópolis (SC) on Wednesday, but on Thursday there will be a sharp drop in temperature in Rio Grande do Sul, with a predicted maximum of only 18°C in Porto Alegre (RS).
