The weather forecast from the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) indicates that conditions for rain will remain over areas of the North and Northeast regions of Brazil this Wednesday (3) and Thursday (4). In the North, the rains will occur mainly in the form of isolated showers, especially from the afternoon onwards, a period of greater daytime heating.
In Northeast Brazil, rainfall will be mostly confined to the coastal strip, with special attention still needed for areas in eastern Bahia, including the capital and the northern coast. Disturbances from the easterly winds are expected to bring heavy rain to areas between eastern Pernambuco and Rio Grande do Norte.
In the eastern part of the Southeast region, there will also be a chance of light and localized rain, especially in coastal areas. In other areas of the country, the weather will be predominantly stable, with no rain forecast. There is a possibility of light and isolated frost early in the day in the higher areas of the Serra Gaúcha and Serra Catarinense mountain ranges, and in areas of the Serra da Mantiqueira mountain range.
Rain is expected to continue in the form of showers, especially in the northern part of Amazonas and Pará, and areas of Amapá and Roraima. In these areas, the rain, favored mainly by the heat and high humidity, should be accompanied by lightning and localized gusts of wind. Maximum temperatures remain stable, ranging from 34°C to 36°C. Relative humidity will be around 30% in areas of Rondônia, Tocantins, and southeastern Pará.
The transport of moisture from the ocean towards the continent, along with atmospheric disturbances, will keep the weather rainy in eastern Bahia, including areas of the Recôncavo Baiano region and the capital, Salvador. Heavy rains are forecast in areas of the eastern strip, between Pernambuco and Rio Grande do Norte, with accumulations that could exceed 60 mm in some places. In the interior of the region, temperatures remain stable, with lows around 14°C in inland locations in Bahia and highs of up to 37°C in areas of the Sertão region.
The weather will remain hot and dry, with no rain forecast for the region. Minimum temperatures should range between 9°C and 11°C in areas of Goiás and Mato Grosso do Sul, while maximum temperatures should range between 34°C and 36°C in locations in Mato Grosso and Goiás. Air humidity in the afternoon should be around 30%.
Maritime circulation will maintain cloud cover and the chance of light, localized rain in coastal areas of the region. In areas of Espírito Santo and northeastern Minas Gerais, there is a small possibility of showers with thunderstorms due to the presence of cold air in the upper layers of the troposphere. There are conditions for fog and/or mist in areas of eastern São Paulo and the Paraíba Valley, areas of Rio de Janeiro, southern and eastern Minas Gerais, and localized areas of Espírito Santo.
Temperatures remain low during the nights and early mornings, with minimum temperatures potentially reaching around 4°C, especially in cities in southern Minas Gerais, areas of the Serra da Mantiqueira and Serra Fluminense mountain ranges, where there is a possibility of frost, albeit weak and localized. Maximum temperatures may vary between 30°C and 32°C in areas of northern Minas Gerais. Air humidity may drop below 30% in some areas of northern São Paulo, as well as in cities in western Minas Gerais and the Triângulo Mineiro region.
There is no forecast of significant changes in the weather conditions expected for the region. Minimum temperatures should vary between 4°C and 7°C, especially in higher altitude cities in the Serra Gaúcha and Serra Catarinense mountain ranges where light and localized frost may occur. Fog/mist conditions persist in some locations in the eastern part of the region, mainly in the early morning hours. Maximum temperatures should vary from 25°C to 27°C in areas of northern Paraná.
