Inmet: weather forecast for Wednesday (2) and Thursday (3)

Between Wednesday (September 2nd) and Thursday (September 3rd), the extratropical cyclone affecting the southern coast of Brazil will rapidly move away towards the Atlantic Ocean. At the same time, a high-pressure system will advance through the south-central part of the country, gradually reducing cloud cover and favoring a drop in temperatures in the South and Southeast regions and in areas of the Midwest. This is the forecast from the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) for the coming days.

Despite the cyclone moving away, the cold front associated with the system still maintains conditions for rain and thunderstorms in the Southeast and southern Northeast regions. The instability is concentrated mainly in eastern Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, Espírito Santo, and the extreme south of Bahia. Isolated showers are also forecast for the Central-West region.

With reduced cloud cover and the arrival of cold, dry air, the possibility of frost formation increases in the higher elevation areas of the Southern Region.

Northern Region

On Wednesday, isolated showers and thunderstorms will hit western and northern Amazonas and west-central Acre. Isolated showers are also expected in Rondônia, other areas of Amazonas, Roraima, Amapá, and north-central and eastern Pará.

In other areas of the region, there is a possibility of isolated showers during the afternoon. The exception is eastern Tocantins, where no rain is expected. In Palmas (TO), however, isolated showers may occur after several days of dry weather.

Despite the possibility of rain in some areas, temperatures remain high in the Northern Region. Among the capital cities, the minimum temperature will be 23 °C in Rio Branco (AC), while the maximum will reach 39 °C in Palmas (TO).

On Thursday, the instability begins to weaken. Isolated showers are still expected in Amazonas and Roraima, as well as the possibility of rain along the coast and in south-central Pará and Tocantins.

In other areas, the sky will be mostly cloudy, but no rain is expected. Among the capital cities, the minimum temperature will be 23°C in Rio Branco (AC), and the maximum will be 38°C in Palmas (TO).

North East Region

Wednesday begins with few clouds across much of the Northeast. There is a possibility of isolated rain in the morning on the northern coast of Alagoas, along the coastal strip of Pernambuco and Paraíba, on the eastern coast of Rio Grande do Norte, and in the far south of Bahia.

From the afternoon onwards, areas of instability will increase in southern Bahia, with conditions favorable for showers and isolated thunderstorms. There is also a possibility of isolated rain along the border between Bahia and Minas Gerais and Goiás.

In Maranhão, isolated showers are expected in the west and northwest of the state, while there is a possibility of isolated rain in the north and south-central regions.

In contrast, much of Ceará, eastern Piauí, northern Bahia, and western Alagoas, Pernambuco, Paraíba, and Rio Grande do Norte will have a sunny afternoon with few clouds. These areas are under the influence of a potentially low humidity condition.

During the night, rain accompanied by thunderstorms continues in southern Bahia. Among the capital cities, the minimum temperature will be 22°C in Teresina (PI), Natal (RN), João Pessoa (PB), Maceió (AL), and Salvador (BA). In the interior, the heat predominates, with a maximum of 40°C in Teresina.

On Thursday, showers are still expected in southern Bahia. There is also a possibility of isolated rain in the central-west and coastal areas of Bahia, in Sergipe and Alagoas, in the coastal areas of Pernambuco and Paraíba, on the eastern coast of Rio Grande do Norte, and in the extreme south of Maranhão and Piauí.

Temperatures remain high in the interior of the Northeast. Among the capitals, the maximum reaches 41 °C in Teresina (PI). In Fortaleza (CE), the temperature varies between 26 °C and 32 °C, while the minimum will be 21 °C in Maceió (AL).

Midwest region

Areas of instability will hit the Central-West region this Wednesday, with isolated showers in Mato Grosso and a possibility of rain in Goiás and the Federal District.

In northern Mato Grosso do Sul, the sky will be mostly cloudy. In other areas of the state, the weather will be clearer, with little cloud cover and milder temperatures. In Campo Grande (MS), the minimum temperature will be 15 °C. Among the capital cities, the maximum temperature will reach 35 °C in Cuiabá (MT).

On Thursday, the sky will be mostly cloudy across much of the region. There is a possibility of isolated showers in northern and eastern Mato Grosso, north-central Goiás, and the Federal District.

In the central-eastern part of Mato Grosso do Sul, including Campo Grande, the day will be sunny with few clouds. In other areas, such as Cuiabá, there will be many clouds, but no rain is expected.

The heat continues in the Central-West region. The lowest temperature among the capitals will be 18°C ​​in Campo Grande, while the highest will reach 38°C in Cuiabá and 32°C in Campo Grande and Brasília (DF).

Southeast

On Wednesday, areas of instability will be concentrated between northeastern Minas Gerais and north-central Espírito Santo, with isolated showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.

Throughout the day, showers are also expected in Rio de Janeiro, while other areas of Minas Gerais may experience isolated rain. In the interior of São Paulo, the weather remains sunny with few clouds.

Temperatures are decreasing in the region. Among the capital cities, São Paulo will have a minimum of 12°C and a maximum of 18°C. In Belo Horizonte (MG), the maximum reaches 27°C.

On Thursday, the areas of instability will weaken. However, there is still a possibility of isolated rain in central and northern Minas Gerais, northern Rio de Janeiro, and Espírito Santo.

There is also a forecast of mist forming in eastern São Paulo, eastern Minas Gerais, and Rio de Janeiro. In other areas, mainly in the interior of São Paulo state, the day will have few clouds.

Temperatures will be low at dawn. In São Paulo, the minimum temperature will drop to 9°C, while Belo Horizonte will have a minimum of 12°C. During the afternoon, temperatures will rise, with highs of 27°C in Rio de Janeiro, 26°C in Belo Horizonte, and 25°C in Vitória (ES) and São Paulo.

South

On Wednesday, the weather will be stable, with plenty of sunshine and few clouds throughout the Southern Region. At dawn, there is a possibility of frost in the highest points of the mountain ranges of Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina.

Fog may form in the eastern parts of Paraná and Santa Catarina during the morning. Later, the sun will also shine brightly in these areas.

Among the capital cities, the high will be 19 °C in Curitiba (PR), and 18 °C in Florianópolis (SC) and Porto Alegre (RS). The low will reach 6 °C in Curitiba.

On Thursday, the cold weather continues during the morning, with the possibility of frost in southern Paraná, central and mountainous Santa Catarina, and the Serra Gaúcha region. In these areas, the weather remains stable, with few clouds.

In eastern Paraná, including Curitiba, there may be formation of mist. In the far south of Rio Grande do Sul, however, new areas of instability will cause isolated showers, mainly in the southeastern region of the state. Along the border with Uruguay, there is also a possibility of isolated rain.

In other areas of the Southern Region, cloud cover increases, but no rain is expected.

Among the capital cities, Curitiba will have the lowest temperature, at 6°C. In Porto Alegre, the minimum temperature will be 9°C in the morning, but it will rise during the afternoon, reaching 26°C.
