Inmet: weather forecast for Thursday (9) and Friday (10)

The forecast from the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) for this Thursday (July 9th) and Friday (July 10th) indicates predominantly stable weather across much of Brazil, due to the presence of a dry air mass that maintains a large area of ​​low relative humidity over the Central-West and parts of the Southeast and Northeast regions. Therefore, rainfall will be limited to areas of the North Region and the coastal strip of the Northeast, while on Friday, instabilities coming from Paraguay and northern Argentina will favor the return of rain to the South of the country. 

Frosts will persist on Thursday, mainly in the Southern Region and in mountainous areas of the Southeast, but on Friday they will be restricted to mountainous regions of the Southeast. Another highlight for both days is the possibility of fog formation during the early morning hours in the eastern part of the Southeast Region and in eastern Bahia.

Northern Region

Between Thursday and Friday, the forecast indicates isolated showers over the far north of the Northern Region. On Thursday, rainfall will be concentrated in western and northern Amazonas, Roraima, north-central Pará, and Amapá. On Friday, instability is expected to increase over western Amazonas and Roraima, favoring showers accompanied by thunderstorms. In other areas of the region, the weather will remain stable, with predominantly sunny skies, high temperatures, and low humidity. 

The highest maximum temperatures are expected in southern Pará and Tocantins, where thermometers may reach values ​​around 36°C. In these areas, relative humidity remains low during the afternoons, with values ​​below 30%, especially in Tocantins, where there is a current warning of potential danger of low humidity.

North East Region

For Thursday and Friday, rain will remain restricted to the coastal strip of the Northeast and will occur in a weak and isolated manner along most of the coast, especially during the early morning hours and evenings. In the interior of the region, the weather will remain stable, with predominantly sunny skies and little cloud cover. 

Low relative humidity continues to be the main feature in western Bahia, western Piauí, and areas of the northeastern hinterland, where values ​​between 20% and 30% are expected during the afternoon. Temperatures remain high in the interior of the region, with highs around 36°C, while the lowest minimum temperatures are expected in the higher altitude areas of the interior, with values ​​around 14°C.

Midwest region

On Thursday and Friday, the weather will remain stable throughout the Central-West region, with no rain forecast. The predominance of a dry air mass will keep the sky mostly clear and favor a large temperature range between the early mornings and afternoons. Of particular note is the low relative humidity affecting practically the entire region, with values ​​between 20% and 30% during the afternoons. 

Maximum temperatures will remain high, around 35°C in northern Mato Grosso and northern Goiás. The lowest minimum temperatures are expected in southern Mato Grosso do Sul, where values ​​may fall below 10°C, gradually rising throughout Friday. From Thursday onwards, temperatures in Mato Grosso do Sul will begin to rise gradually. However, they will still remain low, with minimums ranging between 5°C and 7°C.

Southeast

Between Thursday and Friday, stable weather will prevail throughout the Southeast Region, with no significant rainfall expected. Low relative humidity will cover much of the interior of São Paulo, as well as northern, southern, and western Minas Gerais, where values ​​will remain between 20% and 30% during the afternoons. For both days of the forecast, frost is expected in the mountainous areas located on the border between Minas Gerais, São Paulo, and Rio de Janeiro. 

Another highlight is the occurrence of fog during the early morning hours in the eastern part of the Southeast Region. The lowest minimum temperatures are expected in southern Minas Gerais and southern São Paulo, with values ​​that could reach 0°C. In other areas of the region, minimum temperatures will be around 10°C in the coldest locations, while maximum temperatures could exceed 30°C in northern Minas Gerais.

South

Between Thursday and Friday, the weather pattern changes in the Southern Region. On Thursday, the weather remains stable, with predominantly sunny skies and no rain throughout the region. During the early hours of Thursday, frost is expected between northern Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, and south-central and eastern Paraná, favored by low temperatures and dry weather. Low relative humidity values ​​are also expected in northern Paraná on Thursday.

On Friday, areas of instability originating from Paraguay and northern Argentina will move over the region, causing showers with thunderstorms between northern Rio Grande do Sul and south-central Santa Catarina, with greater intensity in areas near the border between the two states and in the border region with Argentina. With the increase in cloud cover and humidity, the conditions for frost formation decrease significantly. Minimum temperatures remain low during the early mornings, especially in mountainous areas, while maximum temperatures rise compared to previous days, ranging between 20°C and 25°C in most of the region and possibly reaching 27°C in northwestern Paraná.
