The forecast from the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) for Thursday (8/6) and Friday (8/7) indicates the presence of an intensifying extratropical cyclone over the South Atlantic, associated with a low-pressure area that maintains instability over the Southern Region of Brazil. The system favors the occurrence of rain, thunderstorms, wind gusts, and the possibility of hail in the three states of the region.
The instabilities are also moving towards areas in southern Mato Grosso do Sul and São Paulo, maintaining favorable conditions for rain and isolated storms. On Friday, after the passage of the system, a mass of cold air will begin to advance over the south of the country, with a sharp drop in temperatures, especially in Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, and Paraná.
In other regions of the country, rainfall remains concentrated mainly over Western Amazonia and coastal areas of the Northeast. In the interior of Brazil, the weather remains predominantly dry, with low relative humidity levels in areas of the Central-West, Southeast, and Matopiba regions.
Inmet continues to monitor the evolution of the extratropical cyclone (bomb cyclone) and its possible impacts on southern Brazil.
On Thursday morning, isolated showers are expected in western Amazonas and Roraima, with the possibility of isolated rain also in central-western and southwestern Amazonas and northwestern Pará. During the afternoon, instability intensifies, with rain accompanied by thunderstorms in northern and western Amazonas and Roraima, as well as isolated showers in northern Pará and central-western Amazonas. At night, rain with thunderstorms remains concentrated in northern Amazonas and western Roraima, with the possibility of isolated rain in other areas of Amazonas, except in the south of the state, and in northwestern Pará.
On Friday, instability persists in northern and western Amazonas and Roraima, with rain and thunderstorms. There is also a possibility of isolated rain in Amazonas, northwestern and coastal Pará, and coastal Amapá. In other areas of the region, the weather remains stable, with varying cloud cover.
Regarding temperatures, among the capital cities, the lowest predicted temperature is 21°C in Palmas (TO), while the highest temperature could reach 36°C, also in Palmas (TO).
On Thursday, the possibility of rain remains concentrated mainly along the coastal strip. In the morning and afternoon, there is a chance of isolated showers on the coast of Bahia and between Pernambuco and Rio Grande do Norte, especially on the east coast. During the night, the instability will be restricted to southern Bahia. In the interior of the region, the weather will remain dry.
On Friday, light and sporadic rain is expected along the coastal strip between Fortaleza (CE) and Salvador (BA), in addition to the possibility of isolated showers in northwestern Maranhão. In other areas, the weather will remain stable.
On Thursday, the yellow warning for potential danger of strong winds remains in effect between the coast of Maranhão and Rio Grande do Norte, extending to areas of Paraíba, Pernambuco, Alagoas, Sergipe, and northern Bahia. The yellow warning for low relative humidity also remains in effect in areas of Maranhão, Piauí, Ceará, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Alagoas, Sergipe, and western Bahia.

During the afternoon, the rain will intensify, with thunderstorms occurring in Mato Grosso do Sul and the possibility of rain in southern Mato Grosso and southern Goiás. At night, the instabilities will persist in south-central Mato Grosso do Sul, with isolated rain in other areas of the state.

On Friday, a yellow warning for potentially dangerous strong winds remains in effect for Mato Grosso do Sul and southern Mato Grosso.

On Friday, there will be a sharp drop in temperatures, with a maximum predicted of only 18°C in Porto Alegre (RS).
