Inmet: weather forecast for Thursday (3) and Friday (4)

The passage of a cold front through southeastern Brazil is organizing cloud cover and causing isolated showers in parts of the Central-West, Southeast, and Northeast regions, establishing a channel of humidity over these areas. The forecast from the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) for this Thursday (September 3rd) and Friday (September 4th) indicates that the most intense rainfall should be concentrated between northern Minas Gerais and, mainly, Espírito Santo and southern Bahia.

The mass of cold air accompanying the cold front will cause a drop in temperatures during the night and early morning of Thursday, especially in the mountainous areas of the Southeast. There is a possibility of frost formation in the Serra da Mantiqueira, between the borders of Minas Gerais, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, as well as in the south-central and Campos Gerais regions of Paraná.

Another low-pressure system is expected to pass south of Rio Grande do Sul and contribute to rainfall and the possibility of hail in southeastern Rio Grande do Sul this Thursday. In the Northeast, on the other hand, the heat remains intense inland, with temperatures that could exceed 40°C. Check the forecast by region.

Northern Region

On Thursday, the sky will be mostly cloudy across the region. Showers are expected throughout the day in the central-west and northern Amazonas, and in isolated areas in southern Tocantins and Pará. In other areas, there is a possibility of isolated showers.

Among the capital cities, the lowest minimum temperature will be 23 °C, in Rio Branco (AC). Maximum temperatures will reach 37 °C in Manaus (AM) and Rio Branco, and 38 °C in Porto Velho (RO) and Palmas (TO).

Inmet has issued a yellow warning of potential danger due to low air humidity in southern Tocantins.

On Friday, isolated thunderstorms are expected in the central-west and northwest of Amazonas. In the south-central part of the state, in southern Pará and Tocantins, the sky will be mostly cloudy with a chance of isolated showers. In other areas, there will be many clouds, but no rain is expected.

Among the capital cities, the minimum temperature will be 23°C in Rio Branco. The maximum temperature will reach 38°C in the Acrean capital and in Porto Velho. In Manaus and Palmas, the heat continues intensely, with a maximum of 37°C.

North East Region

The arrival of a cold front in southern Bahia creates conditions for isolated showers in the south-central part of the state and other areas this Thursday, except in the north, where the weather remains stable despite the presence of many clouds.

Isolated showers are also expected to hit southern Maranhão and Piauí, and during the night, the eastern coast of the Northeast, between Sergipe, Alagoas, Pernambuco, Paraíba, and Rio Grande do Norte. In other areas, no rain is forecast, but cloud cover will increase.

Among the capital cities, the minimum temperature will be 21 °C in Maceió (AL). In Teresina (PI), there is no rain forecast and the maximum temperature will reach 41 °C.

There is a yellow warning for potential danger due to low air humidity during the afternoon in Piauí, south-central Ceará, southwestern Rio Grande do Norte, and western Paraíba, Pernambuco, and Bahia. For southern Bahia, there is also a yellow warning for potential danger due to heavy rainfall in the Porto Seguro region (BA).

On Friday, the cold front weakens and moves away towards the ocean, reducing cloud cover over the Northeast. Even so, there is a possibility of isolated showers in eastern and western Bahia, including municipalities such as Salvador, Barreiras, and Luís Eduardo Magalhães, as well as southern Maranhão, in municipalities such as Balsas and Alto Parnaíba, and along the coastal strip of Alagoas, Pernambuco, Paraíba, and Rio Grande do Norte.

In south-central Ceará, western Paraíba and Pernambuco, and the central region of Bahia, few clouds and heat prevail. Among the capitals, the maximum temperature reaches 38 °C in Teresina, while in the eastern strip it does not exceed 29 °C in Salvador (BA) and Aracaju (SE). The minimum temperature will be 22 °C in Teresina and Maceió.

Midwest region

Thursday will be marked by many clouds and isolated showers in north-central and eastern Mato Grosso and northern Goiás. There is also a possibility of isolated showers in central Goiás and the Federal District.

In Mato Grosso do Sul, on the other hand, the weather will be clearer, with few clouds and mild temperatures. Campo Grande (MS) will register the lowest temperature among the capitals of the Central-West region, at 16 °C. The maximum temperature will be 37 °C in Cuiabá (MT).

For Thursday, there is a yellow warning of potential danger due to low air humidity in Mato Grosso do Sul, Goiás, the Federal District, and southeastern Mato Grosso.

On Friday, clouds will remain over the region, and there is a possibility of isolated rain in north-central Mato Grosso and Goiás, the Federal District, and southern Mato Grosso do Sul. The minimum temperature will be 20 °C in Brasília (DF), and the maximum will reach 38 °C in Cuiabá.

Southeast

A cold front between Espírito Santo and southern Bahia is creating areas of instability and causing isolated showers in Espírito Santo and northern and northeastern Minas Gerais this Thursday. There is also a possibility of isolated rain in north-central Minas Gerais. In Belo Horizonte (MG), no rain is expected, but the sky will be mostly cloudy.

The day begins with fog in eastern São Paulo, on the southern coast, and in the mountainous regions of Rio de Janeiro. The cold air mass advances over the Southeast and reduces cloud cover in the interior of São Paulo and southern Minas Gerais. In the Serra da Mantiqueira mountain range, frost may form during the early morning hours and at dawn.

Among the capital cities, the lowest temperature will be 10 °C in São Paulo (SP), followed by 12 °C in Belo Horizonte. The cold, however, is short-lived: temperatures rise rapidly in the afternoon, reaching 27 °C in São Paulo and Belo Horizonte, and 28 °C in Rio de Janeiro (RJ) and Vitória (ES).

Inmet has issued a yellow warning for potentially dangerous heavy rains in south-central Espírito Santo, including Vitória. There is also a yellow warning for potentially dangerous low humidity during the afternoon in the far west of São Paulo and Minas Gerais.

On Friday, the weather will be stable across much of the Southeast. The morning will be cold, with a low of 12°C in Belo Horizonte, but temperatures will rise in the afternoon, reaching a high of 31°C in Vitória.

There is a possibility of isolated rain in southern São Paulo and the far northwest of Minas Gerais, where the sky will be mostly cloudy.

South

The weather remains stable across much of the Southern region this Thursday. The day begins with fog in eastern Santa Catarina and Paraná. There is a possibility of frost in some areas of south-central Paraná and the Campos Gerais region.

Still in the morning, there is a possibility of isolated rain in the far south of Rio Grande do Sul. During the afternoon and evening, instability increases, with isolated showers in the south-central region of Rio Grande do Sul, including Porto Alegre (RS).

There is a possibility of hail in southeastern Rio Grande do Sul, in municipalities such as Caçapava do Sul, Canguçu, Pelotas, and Mostardas. In Santa Catarina, cloud cover will also increase, but no rain is expected. In Paraná, the day will be sunny with few clouds.

Among the capital cities, the minimum temperature will be 7 °C in Curitiba (PR), which will have a foggy morning. The maximum temperature will reach 25 °C in Porto Alegre.

For Thursday, there is a yellow warning of potential danger for storms in the south-central region of Rio Grande do Sul, including Porto Alegre.

On Friday, areas of instability formed inland will bring the possibility of isolated showers to Paraná and Santa Catarina. There is also a possibility of isolated rain in the Porto Alegre region.

In eastern Rio Grande do Sul, the sky will be mostly cloudy, while in the central-west of the state, Friday will be sunny with few clouds. Among the capitals, the minimum temperature will be 9 °C in Porto Alegre. The maximum reaches 23 °C in Curitiba, 21 °C in Porto Alegre, and does not exceed 19 °C in Florianópolis (SC).
