Inmet: weather forecast between July 20th and 27th, 2026

The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) released today (July 20th) the weather forecast until July 27th, 2026. According to the institute's numerical model, the highest rainfall volumes are expected to remain over the Southern Region, part of the Northern Region, and the coast of the Northeastern Region throughout the week. 

In the Southern Region, where the highest rainfall totals are expected, volumes could reach up to 200 mm in some areas of the state of Rio Grande do Sul. In the Northeastern Region, the highest volumes are predicted for the coast of Paraíba and Rio Grande do Norte, where accumulations could approach 80 mm. In the Northern Region, the highest volumes are predicted for the northern part of the region, potentially reaching around 60 mm. 

In the Central-West region, the forecast indicates rainfall ranging from light to moderate, especially in the south-central part of Mato Grosso do Sul, with accumulations around 30 mm. In the Southeast region, the weather should remain stable during the first half of the period. However, in the second half of the week, there is a forecast of showers, with accumulations that could reach around 40 mm.

In the Northern Region, the highest rainfall totals are expected in the central-western part of Amazonas and in Roraima, with volumes that may exceed 60 mm in some areas throughout the week. On the coast of Pará, in Amapá and Acre, accumulations should be around 30 mm. In other areas of the region, insignificant rainfall is expected, with accumulations of up to 5 mm throughout the week. It is noteworthy that no rain is forecast for the southern part of the region. 

In the Northeast region, rainfall is expected to be concentrated along the coastal strip, particularly in the area between the states of Paraíba and Rio Grande do Norte, where accumulations could reach up to 80 mm throughout the week. In other locations along the northeastern coast, accumulations are expected to vary between 5 mm and 40 mm. On the other hand, in much of the region, especially in the Northeastern Sertão, no rain is forecast. 

In the Central-West Region, dry weather should prevail throughout the week in most of the region, including the Federal District, Goiás, and Mato Grosso. However, there is a forecast of showers in Mato Grosso do Sul, especially in the south-central part of the state, where, starting on Wednesday (July 22), more significant accumulations are expected, which could reach around 40 mm. 

In the Southeast Region, the beginning of the week will be marked by stable conditions, with the influence of a high-pressure system, which will contribute to maintaining fair weather. From the second half of the week, the advance of an oceanic frontal system will favor increased instability, especially in the states of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, where rainfall totals could reach up to 50 mm in some locations. 

In the Southern Region, the week begins with predominantly unstable weather across much of the region, due to the influence of frontal systems, with significant rainfall expected throughout the period. The state of Rio Grande do Sul stands out, where the highest rainfall volumes in the region are expected, potentially causing disruptions in some areas. Rain is also forecast in Santa Catarina and Paraná due to these systems, but with lower accumulations, ranging between 30 mm and 70 mm.
