Inmet: weather forecast for Friday (12) and Saturday (13)

Rain showers are moving through the center of the country and reaching Brasília; in the North and Northeast, the showers are decreasing.

The weather forecast from the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) for Brazil, this Friday (June 12th) and Saturday (June 13th), indicates rain in the more continental part of the country. In the North, the highest accumulations are expected in the northwest of Amazonas and south of Pará. For the Northeast Region, the showers are concentrated in the coastal strip between the states of Maranhão and northern Alagoas. 

In the South Central part of the country, rain showers are advancing, with the possibility of hail. Rain is forecast for Brasília. In the South, the weather will remain unstable, with a chance of hail on Friday (12) and with frost and fog on Saturday (13).

Northern Region

For Friday (12), there is a forecast of unstable areas forming in the region that favor the occurrence of showers that may be accompanied by isolated thunderstorms. The largest accumulations are expected for the northwest of Amazonas, an area with a warning of intense rains in effect. These significant accumulations extend to the south of Pará. In contrast, the state of Tocantins will remain with stable weather, predominantly sunny and no rain forecast.

For Saturday (13), conditions remain similar, with higher accumulations expected for the northwest of Amazonas.

Over these two days, temperatures will remain stable. Minimum temperatures will range between 20°C and 22°C. Maximum temperatures will occur in areas in southwestern Pará and Tocantins, reaching up to 36°C. 

 North East Region 

For Friday (12) and Saturday (13), the forecast for rain is mainly concentrated in the coastal strip that extends from Maranhão to the north of Alagoas. In this area, isolated and insignificant rains are expected. The other areas of the Northeast are expected to have stable weather with predominantly sunny skies.

Minimum temperatures will occur in the interior of Bahia, with values ​​as low as 16°C in the Chapada Diamantina region. Maximum temperatures will reach 36°C in the states of Maranhão, Piauí, Ceará, Rio Grande do Norte, and Paraíba. For the other states in the region, maximum temperatures will vary between 30°C and 32°C.

Midwest region 

This Friday (12), rain is forecast for all states and the Federal District. The rain may be more intense between the morning and afternoon, in the states of Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul and south-central Goiás. Of particular note is the possibility of hail falling between north-central and eastern Mato Grosso do Sul in the morning, expanding to southeastern Mato Grosso and the extreme south of Goiás. Temperatures will range from minimums close to 16°C in the extreme south of Mato Grosso do Sul to maximums of 35°C in north-central Mato Grosso. In the Federal District, minimum temperatures may reach values ​​close to 15°C, with a maximum of 26°C.

For Saturday (13), it may still rain throughout the region, but with varying intensities. The heaviest showers are concentrated between Mato Grosso (in the Aporé Valley and on the border with São Paulo) and south-central Goiás. Lighter rain is expected in central Goiás, including the Federal District, and northern Mato Grosso. In other areas of the region, there is a possibility of isolated light rain. Only the far north of Goiás and the far south of Mato Grosso do Sul remain very cloudy, but without rain. Minimum temperatures reach 10°C in the far south of Mato Grosso do Sul, while maximum temperatures can reach 36°C in northeastern Mato Grosso. In the Federal District, temperatures tend to drop a little more, reaching 13°C in Brasília. Maximum temperatures reach 26°C.  

Southeast 

In the early hours of Friday (12), there is instability in areas of the West and Southwest of SP, which advance towards the rest of the State and RJ and MG. This instability causes storms with lightning, wind gusts, possible hail and intense rain in a short period. During the night, this instability intensifies in RJ and part of MG and causes showers in ES. Accumulations in 24 hours vary between 7 mm and 40 mm, mainly in areas of the South of SP that border PR. Wind gusts vary between 40 km/h and 65 km/h in the East of SP. Minimum temperatures are around 12°C in the South of MG and 26°C in the Northwest of SP. Maximum temperatures vary between 18°C ​​in some points on the border between SP and PR and 34°C on the coast of RJ and ES and in the Northwest of MG.

On Saturday (13), throughout the early morning and morning, the conditions for storms with rain, possible hail, electrical discharges and wind gusts will continue in the State of RJ and in border areas between RJ, ES and MG, a condition that weakens throughout the afternoon. In the western portion of SP and MG, there are conditions for showers with thunderstorms throughout the period. In other areas, the condition is one of variable cloudiness with occasional rain. Minimum temperatures will range between 10°C in the South of SP and 24°C in the North of MG and maximum temperatures will vary between 20°C in the South of SP and 34°C in the north of MG and on the north coast of RJ.

South   

This Friday (12), between dawn and morning, there is a possibility of storms accompanied by gusts of wind, electrical discharges, intense rain in a short period of time and possible hail throughout the Southern region of Brazil. Throughout the night, the instabilities lose strength and showers with possible thunderstorms should occur in eastern Santa Catarina and other areas of the South. Accumulations vary between 15 mm and 60 mm in 24 hours. Wind gusts between 40 and 60 km/h are also expected throughout Friday. Minimum temperatures vary between 10°C in the Southern Plateau of RS and 20°C in Northern PR. Maximum temperatures range between 12°C in Northeastern RS, Mid-Western SC and in the Serra Gaúcha and Santa Catarina mountains and 24°C in Eastern SC and PR.

Between dawn and Saturday morning (13), the instabilities move away from the Southern region, but still influence the occurrence of light and isolated rain, mainly in the eastern portion of the states. Frost formation is expected in the western half of RS and in areas of PR, and there is a possibility of fog formation in the eastern portion of the Southern Region and in almost the entire state of PR. During the rest of the day, the weather stabilizes, with sun and varying clouds. Minimum temperatures vary between 6°C in the Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul mountain ranges and in the Central-East of PR, and 14°C in the Far North of PR. Maximum temperatures oscillate between 12°C in the mountainous regions of RS and SC and 24°C in the North of PR and on the coast of SC and PR.
