Inmet: weather forecast between August 31st and September 7th

The rainfall predicted by the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) for the week of August 31 to September 7, 2026, should be concentrated in the Southern Region, mainly in Santa Catarina, northern Rio Grande do Sul, and western Paraná. According to the institute's numerical model, accumulations could exceed 100 millimeters in some locations.

The Northern Region should also experience rainfall, with the highest volumes predicted for the west, especially in Amazonas, where accumulations could exceed 60 mm. In the Southeast, the most significant rainfall should be concentrated in the east and central regions of São Paulo, with localized totals of up to 50 mm.

In the Northeast, rainfall will be limited to the coastal strip, particularly the southern coast of Bahia, where accumulations could reach 20 mm. Northern Region

No rain is expected in most of the region. Inmet highlights the persistence of unstable conditions, with the possibility of thunderstorms, mainly in western Amazonas.

Isolated and lighter rainfall is also possible in southern Roraima, central Amazonas, Acre, and northern Rondônia. In these locations, weekly accumulations are expected to be insignificant, up to 5 mm.

North East Region

Rain is expected to be light, isolated, and brief along a narrow coastal strip encompassing the states of Ceará, Rio Grande do Norte, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Alagoas, Sergipe, and Bahia.

The highlight is the southern coast of Bahia, near Porto Seguro, where rainfall totals could exceed 20 mm. In most states, low humidity and dry weather are expected to prevail.

Midwest region

The week begins with dry and stable weather across almost the entire region. There is a possibility of isolated showers, with accumulations of less than 10 mm, in southern Mato Grosso, southern Goiás, and Mato Grosso do Sul.

The heaviest rainfall is expected in southern Mato Grosso do Sul, where the weekly total could reach 50 mm. The highest probability of rainfall is concentrated around September 5th.

Southeast

According to Inmet, rainfall is expected on Tuesday (September 1st) in the central region and on the coast of São Paulo, with accumulations exceeding 20 mm.

On Wednesday (September 2nd), rainfall is expected to move towards Rio de Janeiro, southern Minas Gerais, and southern Espírito Santo. Another weather system is expected to affect the region starting Saturday (September 5th), raising weekly rainfall totals to over 60 mm in coastal areas and the central region of São Paulo.

South

The week begins with severe weather and significant rainfall accumulations this Monday (August 31st), with volumes close to 100 mm. The highest amounts are expected in Santa Catarina. In adjacent areas of northern Rio Grande do Sul and south-central Paraná, accumulations may exceed 60 mm.

The rains are expected to persist until Tuesday (September 1st), moving towards the central region and the coast of Rio Grande do Sul and throughout Paraná.

In the following days, no significant rainfall is expected in the region, due to the meteorological system moving towards the Southeast. Only Paraná is expected to see the return of rainfall on Saturday (September 5th), with increased accumulations in the north of the state, which could exceed 60 mm.
