ICL, a global leader that uses its exclusive resources and technological capacity to develop impactful solutions in plant nutrition and physiology, will be at Rio Innovation Week, recognized in its first edition, in 2021, as the main innovation and technology event in Latin America and which takes place from today (November 8) to Friday, November 11, in Rio de Janeiro (RJ). One of the most innovative companies in the country and among the main in innovation in Brazilian agribusiness, ICL will participate in a lecture by the vice-president of Marketing and Innovation at ICL, Ithamar Prada, about open innovation in corporations and how the company has been developing this work in global program focusing on Innovation and topics such as Sustainability.
In addition to being a business pillar, Innovation is one of the company's values and translates into a team of engaged people, differentiated R&D infrastructure, multiple partnerships forming a single ecosystem. “We have several relevant initiatives in Innovation. For example, in 2019 we created an open innovation program within the company, called BIG (Business Innovation for Growth) with the aim of collecting ideas, analyzing them, and transforming them into projects, listening to all ICL voices, which It has generated, in addition to motivation and spectacular ideas, success stories in business and for society, which combine innovation and sustainability, says Prada.
To collect ideas, ICL implemented the BIG platform, in which employees and their team, of up to five people, include all detailed information about the innovation they are suggesting and the plan to achieve the results. In 2022, Brazil was recognized as the most innovative team in the world, for the idea of treating effluents with microalgae based on ICL's pillars of sustainability and innovation.
In addition to BIG, ICL also has programs such as ICL Planet, which aims to integrate today's major challenges, both worldwide and within the company, with what is being done by entrepreneurs, startups and the scientific community, providing opportunities for these people to have the support from the company to develop their plans and, therefore, significantly accelerating innovation in various topics. “The company’s innovation is focused on major global themes, including food production, all topics related to sustainability in agriculture and even topics that are not directly related to business, such as the energy storage chain for electric vehicles”, he explains.
