More than 380 thousand farmers received the Harvest Guarantee benefit in the 2019-2020 harvest, totaling a balance of R$323,2 million in authorized resources. Payment of benefits began in January 2021 and will end in June. The balance was released this Thursday (17/06) by the Agricultural Policy Secretariat of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply.

The program had 628.955 family farmers accredited from 1.034 municipalities in 10 states. Of this total, 380.303 farmers benefited from the Garantia-Safra in 531 municipalities in 9 states in the Northeast and also in the North of Minas Gerais.

The result shows that more than 50% of municipalities experienced production losses, according to the Garantia-Safra loss verification methodology, guaranteeing 60% of farmers who joined the program the right to receive the benefit.

The Garantia-Safra aims to guarantee food security for family farmers who live in regions systematically subject to crop loss, due to drought or flooding. Farmers with a monthly income of up to 1 and a half minimum wages are entitled to receive the benefit, when they have production losses in their municipalities equal to or greater than 50%. The Garantia-Safra provides for the transfer of R$850, which has been made available in a single installment, due to the Covid-9 pandemic.

In June, 11.074 families from 11 municipalities in Bahia, Minas Gerais and Paraíba will receive R$9,4 million, referring to the payment of the Garantia Safra program to cover losses due to the drought. SPA/Mapa Ordinance No. 25, which determines payment, was published this Thursday (17/06) in the Official Gazette of the Union.

With the launch of the service “Request a Defense Request after Blocking the Garantia-Safra Benefit”, on the Gov.br platform, farmers adhering to Garantia-Safra who had the granting of the benefit blocked in the municipalities that had payment authorization in the month of June /2021 must comply with the guidelines set out in Ordinance No. 25, of July 08, 2020 to regularize the benefit.

If the benefit is blocked, the farmer must access his profile on Crop-Guarantee Management System and check the reason for the block using the notification included in the registration. The farmer must carry out the consultation within 30 days, counting from the publication of the Ordinance authorizing the payment of the benefit. After this period, the farmer is considered automatically notified and can express his opinion regarding the blocking of the benefit until 16/08/2021, requesting the defense request.

The list of farmers who had the benefit blocked, as a precautionary measure, will be forwarded by the State Coordinations to municipal managers.
