Ordinance No. 11 was published this Thursday (4) in the Official Gazette of the Union, which determines the payment of the Harvest Guarantee benefit to farmers who joined the 2019/2020 harvest. This month, farmers from Alagoas, Bahia, Ceará, Minas Gerais, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Piauí and Sergipe will receive payment. The amount of resources authorized for these farmers will reach more than R$74 million.

Given the scenario imposed in relation to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Agricultural Policy Secretariat decided to exceptionally anticipate the payment of the Harvest Guarantee Program in the 2019/2020 harvest. As published in Ordinance No. 15, of April 14, 2020, this Harvest Guarantee payment will be made in full in a single installment of R$850.

The Garantia-Safra aims to guarantee food security for family farmers who live in regions systematically subject to crop loss, due to drought or flooding. Farmers with a monthly income of up to 1 and a half minimum wages are entitled to receive the benefit, when they have production losses in their municipalities equal to or greater than 50%. The Harvest Guarantee benefit is made available in accordance with the social benefit payment schedule.
