Garantia-Safra authorizes payment for more than 432 thousand family farmers

It was published this Thursday (9/12) the SAF/Mapa Ordinance No. 263, which authorizes the payment of the Harvest Guarantee benefit. This month, farmers from Bahia, Ceará, Maranhão, Minas Gerais, Paraíba, Pernambuco and Piauí will receive the benefit. The amount of resources authorized for these farmers will reach more than R$367 million.

The Garantia-Safra aims to guarantee food security for family farmers who live in regions at risk of crop loss, due to drought or flooding. Farmers with a monthly income of up to one and a half minimum wages are entitled to receive the benefit, when they have production losses in their municipalities equal to or greater than 50%. The Harvest Guarantee benefit is made available in accordance with the social benefit payment schedule. The Mapa Secretariat of Family Agriculture and Cooperatives will make the payment for the 2020/2021 harvest in a single installment of R$850, as set out in Ordinance No. 15, of April 14, 2020.

Payment into Digital Savings Account

From this harvest onwards, payment of the benefit will occur through the “Digital Social Savings Account”, which is a savings modality open to beneficiaries of Social Programs. For farmers linked to the Harvest Guarantee Program, the digital account will be opened automatically, without the need to present documents or attend agencies and at no cost. This simplified savings method has no monthly maintenance fee.

Withdrawal of the Garantia-Safra benefit will be available at self-service terminals, Caixa Aqui Correspondents, Lotteries, Caixa Branches and the Caixa Tem App.

Notification of farmers with blocked benefit

With the launch of the service “Request a Defense Request after Blocking the Harvest Guarantee Benefit”, on the Gov.br platform, farmers adhering to Garantia-Safra who had the granting of the benefit blocked in the municipalities that had payment authorization in the month of January/2021, must comply with the guidelines set out in Ordinance No. 25, of July 08 2020 to regularize the benefit. 

If the benefit is blocked, the farmer must access his profile in the Garantia-Safra Management System, using this link and check the reason for the block using the notification in the profile. The farmer will have up to 30 days, after the publication of the Ordinance authorizing the payment of the benefit, to express his opinion regarding the blocking of the benefit. 

The list of farmers who had the benefit blocked, as a precautionary measure, will be forwarded by the State Coordinations to municipal managers.
