Boa Safra Sementes, leader in the production of soybean seeds in Brazil, informed the Market this Friday, March 04, that it has completed work on the third production line at its Cabeceiras plant, in Goiás. The initiative is part of the company expansion plan announced during the IPO process, in April 2021.
Started in March last year, the project expands the unit's production and storage line, increasing the storage and processing capacity of soybean seeds. With the restructuring, 9.000 m² of Refrigerated Warehouses were added to the site, which now has a total area of more than 33 thousand m². This expansion in Cabeceiras will make it possible to store approximately 20.000 more big bags (with around 1.000 kg of seeds each) than before, increasing the unit's capacity to 60.000 big bags.
The unit's third production line has already started operating and increased seed processing capacity by 50%. In addition to the expansion work, one of the silos was also partially delivered, which will allow the storage of approximately 500 thousand bags of soybean seed waste. “The completion of the Cabeceiras project is another step forward in our expansion plan. The unit’s new capacity will help maintain the high quality levels of our seeds and support the company’s growth, ensuring product excellence right up to planting,” says Marino Colpo, CEO and one of the founders of Boa Safra.
In September 2021, the first photovoltaic solar energy plant was inaugurated in Cabeceiras at a company processing unit. The installation, with capacity to generate 158,6 MW/month - equivalent to the average consumption sufficient to illuminate a city of more than 3 thousand inhabitants* - will account for 94% of the total energy used by the unit. The objective, for the near future, is that the energy matrix of all Boa Safra Processing Units is replaced by sustainable and clean energy, thus generating greater sustainable energy efficiency, as well as savings.
The expansion of the Cabeceiras (GO) factory adds to the expansions in Buritis/MG and Jaborandi/BA, and the new unit in Sorriso (MT), which are part of Boa Safra's medium-long term objective of having units in main regions of Brazil to keep up with the increase in global demand for soybeans and support its structured growth.
