Rio Grande do Sul exported US$1,4 billion in February 2022. Of this total, agribusiness accounted for US$946 million, equivalent to 65% of what was sold. The result is 42% higher than the same period in 2021. The numbers are in the Rio Grande do Sul Agribusiness Foreign Trade Report, released by Farsul this Tuesday (15/3).
The volume exported jumped from 1 million tons in February 2021 to 1,7 million in the second month of 2022, which represents 89% of exports from Rio Grande do Sul. In the comparison between January and February 2022 there was a 21% drop in value and 14% in volume sold. However, Farsul's economic team draws attention to the volume recorded in the Comex Stat report of 1.059 tons, considered very low for the state average. Survey at the Port of Rio Grande indicates shipment of 18.964 tons of product.
The reason is a large volume of exports in which the UF appears as not declared in the Comes Stat report, which must be corrected later. Farsul's economic consultancy informs that it has been monitoring the data and as soon as it is corrected it will be updated in Farsul Big Data (http://www2.farsul.org.br/bigdata).
Some agribusiness products have a very high representation in the export basket of Rio Grande do Sul. Meat, Cereals, Soy Complex, Tobacco and Forestry Products represented 85% of the value and 96% of the volume sold by the sector in the last month. In imports, the group Fertilizers (fertilizers) and their ingredients went from US$ 61,5 million in February 2021 to US$ 96 million in 2022, an increase of 56%. In terms of volume, it went from 255 thousand tons to 150 thousand tons, a drop of -41%.
Regarding the destination of the products, exports to Asia (excluding the Middle East) totaled US$ 323 million and 688 thousand tons, even with the large Chinese participation, these figures show that there are other important markets on the Asian continent. Europe reached US$260 million, of which US$198 million went to the European Union. Then comes Africa, with US$ 99 million, followed by North America (US$ 82 million), the Middle East (US$ 75 million), South America (US$ 72 million), Central America and the Caribbean with US$ 22 million and Oceania with US$9 million.
