In a significant step towards the expansion and strengthening of the fruit sector, the Brazilian Association of Producers and Exporters of Fruits and Derivatives (Abrafrutas) signed today, in Beijing, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Food Products, Native Products and Animal Derivatives (CFNA) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil).

The agreement establishes a framework for cooperation in areas of mutual interest, aiming to promote sustainable development, enhance sector capabilities and strengthen trade relations between the two countries.

Among the main areas of collaboration planned:

         1. Sustainable Agriculture: Exchange of knowledge and best practices in sustainable fruit production, including water management, soil health and integrated pest management.

         2. Professional and Industrial Development: Promotion of exchange programs, training, workshops and seminars to improve the skills and knowledge of professionals in the sector.

         3. Supply Chain Optimization: Sharing knowledge on post-harvest handling, cold chain logistics and quality assurance to improve supply chain efficiency.

         4. Consumer Research: Conducting joint studies to better understand consumer preferences and trends in both markets.

The protocol, which imposes no financial obligations on the parties, will be valid for five years and may be renewed by mutual agreement. Specific activities will be developed in separate agreements and the parties will meet annually to review progress and discuss future opportunities for cooperation.

According to Abrafrutas president Guilherme Coelho, the agreement represents a strategic milestone for strengthening the presence of melons and grapes, as well as other Brazilian fruits that can be exported to the Chinese market, one of the largest and most dynamic in the world. And more than that, this cooperation reaffirms Brazil's commitment to sustainability, innovation and the quality of Brazilian fruits.
