The long drought that affects Mato Grosso do Sul, and which in some regions has already lasted three months, could come to an end this week. The new Meteorological Bulletin prepared by technicians from the Weather and Climate Monitoring Center (Cemtec/MS), a body linked to the Secretariat of Environment, Development, Science, Technology and Innovation (Semadesc), predicts the arrival of a front between Wednesday and Friday (7th and 9th) which should drop the temperature and bring rain to some regions.
Until Wednesday (7) temperatures will remain above average, reaching values between 34°C and 37°C, mainly in the Southwest, Pantaneira and North regions of the State. This meteorological situation occurs due to the action of a high atmospheric pressure system that inhibits the formation of clouds and rain, according to the Cemtec/MS bulletin. The relative humidity of the air is between 10% and 30%.
Between the afternoon and evening of Wednesday (7) to Friday (8) a cold front advances and should favor an increase in cloud cover, with the likelihood of rain and storms, in addition to a sharp drop in temperatures, especially in the southern half of the state, in addition to the Pantaneira region.
The highest rainfall accumulations are predicted for the South, Southeast and Southwest regions of the State. The lowest temperatures expected should occur between Friday (8) and Saturday (10), with minimums between 4°C and 7°C, mainly in the southern region of the state. Occasionally the temperature can drop below 4°C.
