PR Safra 2025/26: soybeans maintain a positive outlook in January

Soybean crops in Paraná showed a slight improvement in conditions during the third week of January, according to the Conjunctural Bulletin released by the Department of Rural Economy (Deral). According to the most recent reassessment, 90% of the planted area is classified as being in good condition, compared to 89% the previous week.

Although the variation is slight, the result reinforces the expectation of a production of around 22 million tons in the 2025/2026 harvest. If confirmed, this volume would place the current cycle among the best in the historical series, surpassing the average performance of the last eight harvests and approaching the record of 22,3 million tons registered in 2022/2023.

Initial harvests have already begun, especially in the western region of the state, with good indications of productivity, but they still represent only 0,3% of the total area, estimated at 5,78 million hectares. The Coordinator of the Conjuncture Division of Deral, Carlos Hugo Winckler Godinho, warns that the scenario still requires caution, since 88% of the crops are in or will be going through the most critical phases of the cycle, while only 12% are in the maturation stage.

While the production outlook remains positive, sales continue to be under pressure. Soybean prices in Paraná have remained practically stable since January 2025, fluctuating between R$ 115,00 and R$ 120,00 per sack, influenced by the maintenance of international prices and the appreciation of the real against the dollar over the past year. In January 2025, the average price received by the producer was R$ 119,18 per 60-kilo sack, while in the first week of 2026 the average fell to R$ 118,16, a drop of about 1%.
