Fieldwork monitors the evolution of the grain harvest in São Paulo

Between January 27th and February 2nd, technicians from the National Supply Company (Conab) will travel through the state of São Paulo to update the grain numbers for the 2019/2020 harvest, which will be part of the 5th survey carried out by the Company throughout the country.

Three routes will be covered in the southwest region of São Paulo, covering grain farming areas mainly in the municipalities of Assis, Itapeva, Itaberá, Itaí and Itararé. In this survey, data on the area and productivity of summer crops such as peanuts, rice, beans, corn, soybeans and cotton will be checked.

In the research, information is obtained from cooperatives, agricultural houses, input resellers, financial agents and rural unions, among others. Information is collected on the climate, agricultural credit, crop quality, health and grain marketing aspects, phytotechnical and market issues, as well as a series of other data relating to the crops researched.

In this edition, the field work will also take a special look at soybeans, which are in full development and in some regions the legume (early variety) is already beginning its harvest and productivity is beginning to be surveyed and measured by cooperatives.

Conab carries out monthly monitoring of the Brazilian grain harvest with the aim of supporting public, agricultural and supply policies. The surveys are published through a harvest monitoring bulletin with information on planted area, productivity, production, rural credit, exchange rate, exports, agricultural monitoring, in addition to supply and demand for the products evaluated.
