With the planting of the 2025/26 cotton crop nearing completion and high global stocks putting pressure on prices, fiber quality is gaining importance in cotton farming. The product standard is influencing bonuses, trade discounts, sales contracts, and the level of acceptance by the textile industry.

“In an increasingly demanding market, the final value of cotton is no longer defined solely by productivity, but is primarily determined by the standard of excellence,” says Giovani Zimmermann, agricultural engineer and market developer at Satis in Mato Grosso.

According to him, fiber quality reflects the management adopted throughout the cycle. The process begins in the soil, progresses through balanced nutrition and stress control, includes decisions at the right time, and continues until harvest.

“In a scenario of greater economic pressure, prioritizing quality represents an investment in competitiveness. This path transforms management into value and sustains the cotton production system,” says Zimmermann.

The expert also highlights the importance of timing interventions. The flowering and fruit filling stages of apples are among the most sensitive in the cycle. Stress during this period causes subsequent repercussions, with loss of fiber value and difficulty in marketing.

In this scenario, technical solutions are gaining ground in crop management. Zimmermann states that Satis' tools allow for adjustments during critical phases of crop development.

“Satis solutions complement the system during critical phases and allow for quick adjustments to reinforce plant metabolism. The support helps keep the plant active, promotes uniformity in boll filling, physiological stability, yield ceiling, and final fiber quality,” he states.
