The Fertilizer Purchasing Power Index (IPCF) for September closed at 1,40, reflecting an average reduction of 11% in fertilizer prices, compared to August. The result favors the exchange relationship at this time of the end of the summer harvest and preparations for the off-season, especially for rural producers who invest in quality fertilizers to obtain increases in productivity and profitability.
During the period, the price of commodities recorded a drop, led by sugar cane, of just over 4% compared to the previous month. Soybeans and corn also showed a drop in average prices for the month, linked to revisions in North American harvests.
Fertilizer prices recorded at the end of September present even more favorable exchange rates for farmers than the average for the month.
Another factor considered in the composition of the IPCF is the exchange rate, which increased by almost 2% in the dollar, motivated by fears of a global recession, uncertainties about global demand and the Brazilian electoral dispute.
