Decision vetoes application of the product throughout the region
The National Fertilizer Distribution Association (ANDA) revealed that in the first half of this year, fertilizer deliveries to the Brazilian market totaled 20,14 million tons, a 10,5% increase compared to the same period in 2024, when 18,23 million tons were delivered. In June alone, 4,31 million tons were delivered, representing a 7,2% increase compared to the same month last year, when 4,03 million tons were delivered. The fertilizer sector remains prepared for the grain harvest, which is expected to reach 345,2 million tons.
The State of Mato Grosso led deliveries in the period, concentrating 23,9% of the total, with 4,81 million tons. Next come Paraná (2,88 million), Goiás (2 million), São Paulo (2 million), Minas Gerais (1,69 million), Rio Grande do Sul (1,50 million) and Bahia (1,2 million).
During the 12th Brazilian Fertilizer Congress, held by Anda on September 02nd, in São Paulo, a technical cooperation agreement was signed between the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock and the Brazilian Association for the Diffusion of Fertilizers (Anda), signed by Guilherme Campos Júnior, Secretary of Agricultural Policy at Mapa, and Eduardo de Souza Monteiro, President of Anda's Board of Directors.
The partnership aims to exchange knowledge between the public and private sectors, aiming to benefit society through better understanding and access to qualified information on fertilizers and plant nutrition, with the following specific purposes: improving sectoral statistics, a recurring demand that the entity works to perfect; fostering innovation and bioinputs; producing strategic knowledge; and mobilizing resources for sustainability.
Domestic production of intermediate fertilizers also grew in the first half of the year. In June, 609 tons were produced, a 1,8% decrease compared to the same month in 2024. However, in the first half of the year, production reached 3,51 million tons, an 8,9% increase compared to the same period last year, which recorded 3,23 million tons.
In June 2025, imports of intermediate fertilizers were 3,55 million tons, indicating a reduction of 2,4% compared to the same month in 2024. In the first half of the year, imports totaled 18,47 million tons, an increase of 10,3% compared to the same period of the previous year, which registered 16,74 million tons.
The port of Paranaguá, the main entry point for fertilizers, received 4,87 million tons. This represented a 9,9% increase compared to 2024, when 4,43 million tons were unloaded, representing 26,4% of the total imported through all ports.
