When the farmer wants to plant in a new area, and especially in a sugarcane renovation area, doubts arise about the success of this transition. Commonly, factors such as nutrient deficiency and the presence of soil pathogens are considered obstacles to this decision.
Producer and agronomist Rafael Azevedo Lopes, from the city of Aporé, in the state of Goiás, considered carrying out this action last year and, to this end, sought specialized assistance from Fertiláqua to cultivate soybeans in an area previously used for sugarcane cultivation. -sugar. “This area comes from two consecutive sugarcane cycles, with no history of soybean cultivation. Both in the treated area and in the control area, we used 300 kg of fertilizer with formula 4-30-10 in the planting line and 150 kg of potassium chloride as a top dressing. In the planting furrow of the treated area, we tried an association suggested by Fertiláqua”, says the producer.
Agronomist and master in plant physiology, Daiana Pazuch, who follows this crop closely, explains that two limitations can make it difficult to grow soybeans in areas where sugarcane was grown. “The first is the scarcity of Nitrogen supply, as this is the main element extracted by soybean crops, due to nodulation and FBN being inefficient; and the second is the presence of phytopathogenic nematodes such as Pratylenchus brachyurus, which can colonize soybean roots and cause damage and losses in the productive environment”.
As stated by the producer, the treated area received treatment application via planting furrow. According to Daiana, the objective of choosing management was to evaluate rooting and synergism with nodulation, tolerance to nematodes and vegetative development of the aerial part. To achieve this, there was an association between the soil conditioner and the Fertiláqua seed treatment with biological products based on Trichoderma, Bacillus, Bradyrhizobium and Azospirillum. “Most of the time, the limiting factor for good productivity in crops is not the chemical component linked to fertilization, but rather the absence of the biological component associated with the inefficient development of the root system, as observed in this area”, explains the agronomist.
Agronomist Dorotéia Ferreira, PhD in soils and specialist at Fertiláqua, also followed the results obtained in the area so far. “There was very good development of the root system associated with excellent nodulation and consequent root protection, which are obstacles in areas of the first year of soybean cultivation. We can see a more vigorous plant in the area where Fertiláqua technologies associated with specific microorganisms were inserted, demonstrating the integration of the soil-plant system. The difference really was the application of soil conditioner and seed treatment, associated with biological technologies”.
As this is the first year that the producer has cultivated soybeans in this area, there is still no history of productivity. But, Rafael is sure of a good harvest. “This year, we used Fertiláqua products in 100% of the area and we saw a development much higher than the previous harvest, when we did not use these products, and we are very satisfied with the results observed in this plantation. We realize that they are quality products, with high performance in the field and, therefore, this partnership will certainly continue”, he concludes optimistically.
