Federal Government approves R$60 million credit for the Ministry of Agriculture

Resources will be made available to support Rio Grande do Sul in the production and dissemination of meteorological and climatological information

The President of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, approved Provisional Measure No. 1.260, which authorizes the opening of extraordinary credit in the amount of R$1,659 billion in favor of the Ministries of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa), Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), Agrarian Development and Family Farming (MDA), Ports and Airports (MPOR) and for Official Credit Operations.

The provisional measure was published in the Official Gazette of the Union today (30). R$60,643 million will be allocated to MAPA, which will be applied in the areas of meteorology, climatology and agricultural defense. These resources are intended to support the state of Rio Grande do Sul.

With a focus on sustainable agriculture, R$25,143 million were approved for the production and dissemination of meteorological and climatological information.

To strengthen agricultural defense, R$35,500 million were allocated, which will be used to reinforce the Unified Agricultural Health Care System (Suasa).

The extraordinary credit, authorized due to the state of emergency, will be distributed among various sectors in Rio Grande do Sul. The National Supply Company (Conab) will receive R$998,121 million to build public stocks. For small rural producers in Rio Grande do Sul, R$6,554 million will be made available for technical assistance and rural extension.
