The Rio Grande do Sul State Agriculture Federation (Farsul) has submitted a request to extend the planting calendar for the summer crop. The new deadline requested by Farsul is February 15, 2026. The request was sent to the Directorate of the Plant Health Department of the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, Sustainable Production and Irrigation (Seapi).

Decree SDA/Mapa No. 1.271, of April 30, 2025, establishes the national crop calendar for 2025/2026. It stipulated that the Sanitary Break period would be from July 3, 2025 to September 30 of the same year, and the Sowing Calendar from October 1, 2025 to January 28, 2026.

However, Farsul points out that the late planting of corn crops due to climatic reasons and the rains that occurred in December 2025 and January 2026 will delay the harvest of the crop, which motivated the request. The document sent to Seapi emphasizes that in areas irrigated by pivot irrigation and also in rainfed corn and silage crops, the cultivation of the second soybean crop occurs, justifying the extension.

In the official letter, the Federation points out that the extension had already been adopted in the 2024-2025 harvest for similar reasons.
