Embrapa Hortaliças presents pepper varieties at Tecnoshow Comigo 2016
Materials developed by the institution will be on display from April 11th to 15th, in Rio Verde (GO).
The stink bug is considered one of the pests that most damage and attack soybean crops, as the damage is direct to the grain, affecting quality, vigor and altering the balance of proteins and seed oils. According to Embrapa Soja researcher, Samuel Roggia, the loss can reach 10 to 20% in production, if there is no control in the field.
Given this scenario, the Percevejo Alert program will be held tomorrow in Passo Fundo for rural producers. Conceived and developed by FMC Agricultural Solutions, the program aims to provide knowledge and information on the prevention and control of bedbug outbreaks through technical guidance and will pass through the main Brazilian states that produce soybeans and corn. The campaign will also feature information and management tips on social media that can be viewed and shared on the FMC Facebook page with #AlertPercevejo.
The next states will be Tocantins and Bahia. Entomologist Mauro Tadeu Braga will be responsible for presenting the topics of the lectures, aimed at FMC producers and consultants. “The guest speaker is nationally known in the agronomy segment, in which he has vast experience and for this reason his participation will be extremely important”, highlighted Adriano Roland, insecticides manager at FMC.
Roland highlights the importance of Bug Alert events promoted by FMC. “It is a way in which participants not only gain more knowledge about techniques and products, but also receive information about the current situation of the pest and tips for managing it.”, explains the representative. “Investing in quality solutions that bring productivity and profitability to the producer is our commitment. We need to be together with the producer to understand their specific needs and, thus, contribute to their success".
Management techniques and technology
Each phase of bed bug attack has its solution. In soybeans, everything starts with desiccation, where the pest does not cause damage, but is present in the environment in invasive plants, which serve as secondary hosts, in addition to other crops such as corn and beans, present in almost all soybean-producing regions. “At this stage, the main objective is to reduce the adult population, at a time when they are most exposed. Therefore, we recommend the application of Mustang insecticide, which has an excellent shock effect and rapid control of bed bugs..
The stink bug begins its colonization at the end of the soybean vegetative cycle when it does not yet cause damage, but we have seen an increasingly larger population at this stage. At this time, the main pest is usually the caterpillar, but with the increase in the bed bug population once again there is a need to reduce the adult population. “Producers have been seeking to produce more and more and also optimize their costs, keeping pest population levels below the level of economic damage, protecting their investment. Therefore, technological solutions that have flexibility of use and high efficiency are vital for successful pest management.”, says the representative. He recommends the use of the Hero insecticide, which in addition to helping to manage difficult-to-control caterpillars such as the false beetle, its distinguishing feature is also its high effectiveness in controlling bedbugs in this vegetative phase, it does not unbalance mites and is excellent to handle, due to the lower dose and formulation that facilitates storage and preparation of the syrup.
In turn, the reproductive stage is the moment where the damage is direct to the productivity and quality of the grain or seed, causing greater losses to the soybean crop. It is at this moment that the producer needs a complete product, which acts on the different phases of the pest, with high efficiency and which provides the longest period of control possible. “In this case we recommend the insecticide Talisman, which is effective against bed bugs in their most diverse phases, a complete product. Through its differentiated formulation, it has an excellent shock effect, greater permanence on the sheet and systematicity, providing differentiated control with an excellent residual. It is important to say that Talisman is present in the Soya Combined Solution and also in the corn crop”.
