External and internal cotton lint prices are rising sharply. In Brazil, the CEPEA/ESALQ Indicator, with payment in 8 days, has been consecutively renewing nominal records – this Tuesday, 5th, it closed at R$ 5,8005/lp, a strong increase of 8,7% compared to September 28th.
According to Cepea employees, the significant international increases and the appreciation of the dollar against the Real in recent days have stimulated the sale of new lots on the spot. On the other hand, some industries chose to postpone the receipt of volumes already contracted, but which had open prices, citing difficulties in passing on these costs.
In general, buyers with immediate needs had to give in and pay higher amounts to be able to make new purchases.
