Exports from the Rio Grande do Sul agribusiness sector increased in June

In June 2026, agribusiness exports from Rio Grande do Sul totaled US$1,24 billion, representing a 3,9% increase compared to the same month in 2025. The sector accounted for 68,9% of all the state's exports during that period.

The peculiar data point of the month is the contrast between the revenue generated and the volume shipped. While the financial amount increased, the physical volume decreased by 2,2%, going from 1,80 million to 1,76 million tons. According to Farsul's Economic Advisory, this signals an improvement in the composition of exported products and a more attractive average price.

What drove the result?

The positive performance was mainly driven by the following sectors:

Soybean Complex: grew 15,2% in value, with emphasis on soybeans (up 18,8% in value) and soybean meal.

Meat: fresh chicken meat saw a significant jump of 65,6% in value, reflecting a recovery in supply flows after the sanitary restrictions faced last year. Beef also increased by 15,3%.

Rice: the segment recorded a 17,4% increase in value, driven by a diversification of destinations that includes countries in Central America, the Caribbean, and Africa.

Live Cattle: an absolute highlight of the month, with a growth of 1.567,9% in value, driven by the resumption of shipments to Turkey.

Attention points

Not all sectors kept pace with the growth rate. The month's result was limited by the decline in products such as unmanufactured tobacco, cellulose, crude soybean oil, and fresh pork. Especially in the case of cellulose and wood, the drop reflects the lack of a repeat of the large shipments made in the same period of the previous year.

International markets

China maintained its position as the main destination for agricultural exports from Rio Grande do Sul, accounting for 30,2% of the total value shipped in June. Following China were the United States (6,1%), Turkey (5,6%), Belgium (3,5%), South Korea (3,5%), and India (3,4%).

In the first half of 2026, agribusiness in Rio Grande do Sul totaled US$6,84 billion in exports, an increase of 8,3% compared to 2025. "The accumulated figures for 2026 show a more geographically diversified export portfolio, supported by soybeans, corn, animal proteins, rice, and vegetable oils," points out the Farsul report.
