Due to the importance of Brazil's commercial relations with its most important business partner, which is China, the organizers of the Brazilian Agribusiness Congress decided to bring to the event's opening lecture, scheduled for August 5th, in São Paulo , executive Jingtao (Johnny) Chi, chairman of the Chinese COFCO International, one of the largest agribusiness trading companies in the world. The Congress is a joint event between ABAG – Brazilian Agribusiness Association and B3 – Brasil, Bolsa, Balcão, and is expected to attract the attention of 900 delegates.
In addition to providing an overview and talking about business perspectives between Brazil and China, the speaker, whose topic will be “The Chinese Market and Sustainable Production in Brazil”, will also highlight aspects related to sustainable production, which is the subject of great concern in Chinese politics. Since 2009, that country has been planning a radical reform of its environmental policy. Proof of this is that, in the next cycle of development planning, the Chinese government plans to transform the country into a green economy. Finally, in Panel 3, Congress will discuss Pillars for the Future of Agriculture, with the participation of debaters Douglas Ribeiro, Marketing Director at Corteva Brasil, responsible for speaking on the topic of Innovation; Marina Grossi, president of the Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development (CEBDS), who will address the topic of Sustainability; Paulo Resende, professor at Fundação Dom Cabral, in charge of Infrastructure; Ruy Shiozawa, president of Great Place to Work Brasil, whose theme will be Management; and Ulisses Thibes Mello, director of IBM Research Brazil, whose subject will be Connectivity.
The analyzes and discussions will be moderated, in all event panels, by journalist William Waack.
In addition to debates, analyzes and discussions, Congress also scheduled the delivery of several awards. Initially, a Special Tribute will be paid to the Agribusiness at School Educational Program, developed by ABAG Ribeirão Preto. The awards will then be handed out: Agribusiness Personality “Ney Bittencourt de Araújo – Agribusiness Personality” and "Norman Borlaug – Sustainability” a professionals who stood out in Brazilian agribusiness.
In the Agribusiness Personality award, this year's honoree will be economist José Roberto Mendonça de Barros, founding partner of MB Associados.
