Professor and researcher Átila Mógor, from the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR), will be one of the speakers at the Intelligent Plant Nutrition Summit, promoted by the Brazilian Association of Plant Nutrition Technology Industries (Abisolo). The event will be held on June 09th and 10th at Pecege, in Piracicaba (SP), bringing together specialists, researchers and agribusiness professionals to discuss trends, innovation and scientific fundamentals of plant nutrition.
Mógor will give a lecture entitled “Plant Adaptation to Nutrient Availability and the Use of Special Fertilizers” on June 10th at 11:35 AM. The presentation will offer an integrated approach to mineral nutrition, plant physiology, and modern fertilization strategies.
In the first part, the researcher will explore the fundamentals that explain how plants perceive and respond to fluctuations in nutrient availability in the soil. The content will address nutritional metabolism as a dynamic process, involving signaling, absorption, distribution, and physiological adjustments that are crucial for plant development.
“Our goal is to show that plant nutrition is not a static process. The plant continuously interprets environmental conditions and adjusts its metabolism to maintain homeostasis (nutritional balance) and sustain growth,” explains Átila Mógor.
In the second stage, the lecture will connect these adaptive mechanisms with the use of special fertilizers, such as biofertilizers, organomineral products, and slow-release or controlled-release fertilizers. According to the researcher, these technologies contribute to maintaining the nutritional homeostasis of plants, favoring more efficient responses to abiotic stresses, such as climatic variations, water deficit, and salinity.
“When we manage to improve the nutritional status of the plant, we increase its ability to cope with adverse situations. Special fertilizers can act in this fine-tuning of metabolism, providing greater metabolic stability and better agronomic performance,” the speaker points out.
Among the examples that will be presented is the role of humic substances in stimulating root growth, increasing the capacity for nutrient absorption and interaction with the soil. The aim is to translate established scientific concepts into accessible and illustrative language, connecting the fundamentals of plant physiology to practical applications in agriculture.
The approach will be cross-cutting, prioritizing the understanding of the plant as an integrated organism, rather than focusing on specific crops. The content will be structured based on scientific evidence gathered over years of research and organized in a technical narrative format, facilitating the understanding of the metabolic mechanisms involved in plant nutrition.
According to Roberto Levrero, president of the Deliberative Council of Abisolo, the presence of experts with strong academic backgrounds contributes to raising the technical level of the discussions promoted by the organization. “The Summit was conceived to bring science and agricultural practice closer together. Professor Átila's participation reinforces our commitment to disseminating knowledge that contributes to increased productivity and efficiency in the use of inputs in Brazilian agriculture,” he summarizes.
