Ethanol production fell 2,05% in the South in August, according to Edenred.

In August, the Southern Region showed an overall decline in prices compared to July. During this period, ethanol led the reductions in the region with a drop of 2,05%, closing with an average price of R$ 4,30, compared to R$ 4,39 recorded at the end of the previous month, according to data from the most recent analysis of the Edenred Ticket Log Price Index (IPTL), a survey that consolidates the prices practiced at gas stations based on transactions recorded at gas stations, providing an accurate average.

Furthermore, regular diesel and S-10 diesel also followed the downward trend in the South, costing R$ 6,19 (-0,80%) and R$ 6,56 (-0,15%), respectively, compared to the values ​​of R$ 6,24 and R$ 6,57 practiced in July. Gasoline showed a decrease of 0,46%, registering an average value of R$ 6,46 per liter at the end of August, against R$ 6,49 in July.

In the state of Rio Grande do Sul, regular gasoline was sold for R$ 6,30 (a 0,47% decrease compared to R$ 6,33 in July), while S-10 diesel was sold for R$ 6,29 (a 1,10% decrease compared to R$ 6,36 in July). The state also registered the most significant drop for ethanol in the South (-3,58%), reducing its average price from R$ 4,75 to R$ 4,58 per liter, but it remains the most expensive in the region. 

Paraná, in turn, guaranteed the cheapest ethanol in the entire region, priced at R$ 4,18 per liter, after a 2,11% reduction compared to the R$ 4,27 recorded in July, and maintained the lowest average price for regular diesel, stable at R$ 6,09. However, Paraná drivers of S-10 diesel vehicles faced a 1,05% increase in fuel prices, which rose from R$ 6,67 to R$ 6,74. In Santa Catarina, the price of regular gasoline remained stable at R$ 6,52, while regular diesel registered a 1,50% decrease (from R$ 6,65 to R$ 6,55).

“The Southern Region experienced a month of relief for drivers' wallets with significant drops in most fuel prices, especially ethanol and regular diesel at most gas stations. Ethanol, in particular, remains the most economically advantageous alternative for refueling in all states of the Southern region, which is an excellent incentive for both fleet and driver savings, as well as for sustainability, given its crucial role in the transition to mobility with less environmental impact and reduced emissions,” points out Vinicios Fernandes, Director of Business Units at Edenred Mobility.
