Second harvest corn and consortium with brachiaria have new climate risk zoning
An adjustment was made to the corn cultivation cycle depending on the variation in temperatures in this second harvest period
The Agricultural Research Company of Minas Gerais (EPAMIG) makes available the new edition of the Technical Bulletin that covers the theme “Soil, fertilization, production and incidence of Panama disease in Prata-Anã banana”. The publication can now be purchased at EPAMIG Bookstore and in other sales channels for R$8.
The Bulletin describes the relationship between fertilizer sources and the chemical attributes of the soil, banana production and the incidence of Panama disease, a disease with high destructive potential, which causes great damage. Knowledge of the parameters to increase the level of tolerance of the 'Prata-Anã' banana tree to disease improves the useful life of the banana plantation, being a way to manage the crop appropriately, thus obtaining an increase in production and profitability.
Studies and technologies aimed at developing national banana farming are essential not only for the producer, but especially for the consumer, by offering a quality product. The choice of soil for banana cultivation and knowledge of its physical, chemical and biological attributes, through analysis, are important parameters for achieving successful production.
Banana cultivation has strong economic and social appeal throughout the world. The fruit is the most consumed fresh and production exceeds 150 million tons. Brazil is the fifth largest producer in the world, with 7,3 million tons. Cultivation is present in all states of the country.
